Seriously?

I just posted that to get a rise out of the knife geeks, but really? $750 for THAT?

Wow. That's one of the highest forms of "insane" I think I've ever known.
I mean, I understand that you pay for quality, but c'mon.

That's a nice knife, and pricey I might add.

Does it make it better or worse if I tell you I traded my SPX for itShrug

So, I just ball parked the $750. The one I got is average for a Hinderer, I'd say. There are other models, rarer, earlier generations, going in the $1500 range. In surfing around though, I did see some very similar to mine in the $1000 range.

I think I made out. Got rid of a gun I hardly shot and picked up a knife I can carry and use everyday. Its also more valuable than the SPX. Really, I made money on it in this trade.

I know, to a lot of you it may seem dumb. A nice 7+1 autoloader 12g for a knife??? Yup. First thing my one buddy said was the old "dont bring a knife to a gunfight". It kinda stuck, and believe me, I repeated it to myself a couple times while pondering the trade.

Thing is, I have other guns for the fightWink

It's hard to relay "tone" properly via this medium, but really, that's just retarded to me.

That said, if you have the money to blow on it, God bless you. It's not my money and if you can do it and it makes you happy, it's no skin off my back.

I know Dude, its all good. Most people feel the same as you do.

To put it into perspective some for the non-knife heads, this could be compared to say, a Les Baer or Wilson Combat 1911.

I still cant believe ARJ payed $2K for that GlockBig GrinBig Grin

I'd rather have another gun but I've spent sums others consider outrageous on stuff that's important to me.

He was the sort of person who stood on mountaintops during thunderstorms in wet copper armour shouting "All the Gods are bastards."

In this pic you can see the knife is in tip down config. To go tip up you need to take out the filler tab near the pommel, remove the pocket clip, and switch'em around. Easy enough, right?

Not so. The tolerances on these are so tight, I had to use a dental pic to "dig" the filler tab out.

Just one of the reasons these higher end, semi-custom blades, are priced at the point they are. Another reason being, I believe EVERYTHING except the teflon washers in the pivot on this knife is made in-house. Even the hardware.

Going tip up puts the flipper in the optimal position for opening during the draw. Thing is, now I sometimes find the flipper getting snagged on/in the pocket on the draw due to its size.

Bigger flipper, easier blade deployment. Smaller flipper, less snag, harder to deploy.

In tip down, the flipper is at the top of the pocket with less snag factor, but not optimal for blade deployment. In tip up, its (the flipper) at the base of the pocket and in the optimal position for blade deployment, though now creating the snag factor since you basically have to clear the pocket with the entire length of the grip.

Just some further discussion and observations about one of the sickest blades on the market.

Like our firearms, nothing is perfect, and there are tradeoffs to be considered with various carry methods.
