1st AR build.

Picked up a complete stag lower yesterday at LGS. This was kind of an impulse buy. I have been thinking about putting together my first AR lately and stumbled upon this lower by chance. Now I have to find an upper. Gonna keep a watch on the holiday sales different places. Any advice on what I should be looking for or avoiding in my search? I'm trying to keep this a budget build. I have about $300 in the lower so I'm looking at about $450 left for the upper, BCG, sights. I think it should be doable. If I can come in under budget then I will shift funds tward optics and upgrade there a little.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You should easily find what you need for a decent price this time of year.

I posted these for someone else new to AR15s over on pafoa.
May they be of use to you as well.

This is just scratching the surface, but if you aren't already aware of these sites, it may be of use to you.

I've ordered from a few of those. A few are new to me. Thanks, much appreciated.

I* built one from a Stag lower and a Del-Ton upper, nice tight gun. I also bought a 22lr. conversion kit, at the time it was more affordable to shoot 22 than 223. Nothing is really cheap anymore.

* I bought the parts, I assembled most of it with lycanthrope pointing to what goes where and doing a few things I was all thumbs at.

My thread over on PAFOA on the build and whatnot. Got rid of the red dot in favor of a scope after a while.

I was planning on watching psa for their holiday sales. I'll have to check out del ton, I'm not really familiar with them.

Appreciate the replies so far guys. Thanks.

Find a 16" midlength upper.

PSA usually has an optic/upper combo sale during the holidays.

Is this your first AR?
I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?

Yeah, first I have owned. I have shot plenty of them. I have always been more of a milsurp person, mostly Enfields and nagants. I have an ak as well. I guess I'm a little late to the ar club.;)
