3oz Buffer Plug Question
#1
I picked up a buffer tube kit from Omega Mfg to test out. It looks great except for the 3oz aluminum buffer feels like it has lead shot in it that slides back and forth. I haven't seen this in buffers before, but I assume it is to take the shock out of the BCG slamming into it.

Has anyone used this style of buffer? Is it any good? Should I throw it in the can and get a regular buffer plug?

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Lead shot that moves back and forth? That's how a dead blow hammer works. Your gun will take a beating with a buffer like that.

Internal weights are what eliminates bolt bounce.
Having weights moving inside a buffer in not uncommon.
You can go with a tungsten buffer or a hydraulic one if the noise bothers you.

It will not act like a dead blow.
The forces are different.

Notice the BCM has pretty much zero bolt bounce.

I'll give it a try...sounds interesting! Looks really well made for a $35 buffer tube kit!
