45 ACP small and large primers
#1
Quoting one of my kids favorite characters: "Dad Gum!"

Was going thorough some brass to reload for 45ACP, found out I had two different sized primers Sad So from the 500 or so, at least 300 are small primers.

Based on what Ive found online, it's either a good thing or its the devil. Has anyone had to change their loads because of the two differences?

Do NOT eat the pistachio ice cream.
IT
HAS
TURNED

Ive been fortunate enough to avoid collecting any so far. I know a couple people loading them at my club. They claim no change but I'm not sure they've put any scientific method into reaching that conclusion other than their guns didn't kaboom.

I used to toss small primer brass, but after awhile, I decided to start using them. Same loads as large primers, and no difference as far as I can tell. I usually use 230 g. Hornady XTPs.

I also use large and small .45 shells, same charge.
Just don't try to force a large primer in a small shell, not pretty. (ask me how I know)

yea... i had that same problem!

Small and Large primered brass doesn't behave much differently. I always separate my LP and SP brass just so I don't have an issue, sometimes I miss one... it happens.

Currently I'm not using my SP brass because I only have 500 SPP's on the bench. Gonna save them for my .38 spl loads. I have has some luck with finding LPP's, just no SPP's.
