The Obama White House is cutting $65 billion in the sequester, but it could easily leave or torch 750,000 pieces of major military hardware — worth $36 billion — in Afghanistan after U.S. troops pull out by the end of next year.

Isn't that pretty much standard procedure when we pull out of a war? It's usually more expensive to ship stuff back than it's worth. In WWII we dumped tons of good equipment right into the ocean.

i read yesterday it would cost 5.1 billion

5-6 years ago i hauled 40 or so loads of equipment over a period of several months returning from Afghanistan/Iraq from Staten islands piers to Ft Drum . there were about 60 trucks doing it
It's the "BILL OF RIGHTS" not the bill of "needs"

If it will cost $5.1 billion, and the gear is worth $46 billion, then they should send it all back and sell it to US citizens. But I wonder where they got the number $46 billion, and I suspect that's what was paid for the items, not their current market value. The stuff has been through a war; it's gonna be beat to shit.

Even for scrap value it might be worth it to ship back. Of course, if it were to be scrapped, Obama would just ship it all over to China anyway. It could be called Cash For Clunkers II.

I say that we ship Obama to China along with a couple million bucks. Do you think that would be enough for them to keep him?

Sounds good, but only if he goes through the same process the clunkers did before we shipped them over.

He is a communist, he would fit right in with them. Excellent idea.

I guess they haven't learned from the Russians. When Russia pulled out they left behind almost their entire arsenal that was there. Look where it got us.....our servicemen were gunned down by weapons that were left behind by the Russian army.
