7.62x39 vs. 1/4" Steel
#1
Took the SKS to the range today. I had some homemade 1/4" mild steel targets hung up at 75 yards.
The shot on the right was my first one, it is an entry hole. The target spun around on my second shot, so the one on the left is an exit hole.

I was surprised at the results...

I thought some of you would like to see it...

LOL, I didn't even notice that. I can't run the HP's in my SKS, they jam like a sumbitch, so it was the 124 Grain FMJ that I was using.

Interesting. Neat to see what this round can do.

Never had an issue with HP's in any of the SKS' I've had. Although, soft points seem to smash the feed ramps and put a nice angled lead point on them. I'd bet this would affect bullet trajectory.

Many years ago, when the internet was still young I joined a gun forum. I was talking about punching holes in 1/4" steel. One guy called me a liar because this was not possible.

Yeah, I was already told its a fake and that the existance of armor proves that steel can't be penetrated,.. I replied with the fact that its mild steel and the conversation ended.
