A 46-year-old, 7-Eleven convenience store clerk was shot and killed overnight by two masked bandits during a robbery at a Newark, Del. store.
Delaware State Police say two men entered the store on the Four Seasons Parkway about 12:40 a.m. today.
The bandits confronted the male clerk and demanded money. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.
But then, as both suspects were fleeing the store, one of the suspects armed with the handgun turned and fired at least one shot, striking the clerk in the upper body, police said.
The men, described only as black males wearing dark clothing and masks, fled.
The clerk's name is being withheld until relatives are notified. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine cause and manner of death.
Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives are conducting interviews, reviewing surveillance video, and collecting evidence at the crime scene in an attempt to identify the robbers.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 911; or, call Detective William Porter of the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit at 302-531-5892; or, Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

Our grandson, the face of my avatar, lives about a mile from there.  We often stop at that same 7-11 on the way there.   Angry

In fact, they used to live in the apartments immediately behind that same 7-11.

I didn't have a chance to comment on the article after posting it because I suddenly had to deal with something at work.  Anyways, the story shows even if you comply with a robber's demands, it DOES NOT mean the robber will leave you unharmed.  The robber shot the store clerk as he was exiting the store.  If a citizen with a LTCF or with a firearm in general (for those of you who are open carry buffs) was in the store, it is POSSIBLE that the would have been able to neutralize the robbers thus preventing the store clerk from being murdered.  This just goes to show people, it is better to have it and not need it then to not have it but need it!
