There have been 70,291,049 background checks for gun purchases since President Obama took office, according to data released by the FBI.

In 2009, the FBI conducted 14,033,824 background checks. If we subtract the month of January (Obama did not assume office until the end of the month) we get 12,819,939.

The FBI conducted 14,409,616 background checks in 2010, 16,454,951 in 2011, and 19,592,303 in 2012.

Add to that the first three months of 2013 (2,495,440, 2,309,393 and 2,209,407, respectively) and the total number of background checks under President Obama comes to 70,291,049.

Over the same time period, the number of background checks completed under President George W. Bush was 36,090,415, or about half the number conducted under Obama.

Because nobody has any ammo. Dodgy
When they come for my guns; It is not my right, at that point,
but my responsibility to respond in the name of liberty.

I have ammo, and I might be willing to sell some. I'm just waiting for someone to come along and tell me what the fair price is for me to sell it. Wink

If it's 7.62 x 51, then a fair price is a penny a round but only to me. Anyone else it's at least $5.00 a round. Big Grin

Send it to me I well determine the quality of it by test firing it then determine the price you should ask when you sell it.

But the number of background checks conducted is irrelevant!

The important part is the number of "prohibited persons" and straw purchasers, tracked, arrested and convicted. And that number is extremely low! So in in fact one might believe that the Federtal government is not interested in enforcing the law.

2010 the FBI conducted over 6 million background checks. Those combined with state checks (like PICS) issued more than 76,000 denials. Something on the order of 4700 denials were refered for further ATF investigation. From those a staggering 62 cases were turned over to the DOJ for prosecution which resulted in 13 guilty pleas and 10 dismissals iaw plea bargain agreements.

Don't take my word for it. Look for this report:
Enforcement of the Brady Act, 2010
Federal and state investigations and prosecutions of
firearm applicants denied by a NICS check in 2010
