Activists outraged: Registration does lead to confiscation
#1
http://www.examiner.com/article/activist...nfiscation

Quote:Police in Buffalo, N.Y. are demonstrating what gun rights activists across the map have been saying for years – and gun prohibition lobbyists have been denying – about how registration leads to confiscation as they will reportedly begin confiscating guns legally owned by people who have recently passed away........

Quote:“This is the kind of behavior one might expect in a police state, but not the United States,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “From now on, no gun control zealot will be able to dismiss and ridicule the concerns of law-abiding firearms owners that there is no reason to fear gun registration, no matter what form it takes. This explains why gun owners are opposed to registration and other forms of record-keeping and permit laws.

Well, we all know it, but it's not often you actually see it in print by the media, for anyone to read.

Why would this be used against the antis to show them what registration will ultimately lead to, when we all know that confiscation is their most desired end result?

True, but there are a lot of people who are "I support the 2nd but" people that don't believe government would take guns. I think stories like this should be aimed at them when they start arguing that they are okay with guns but the government should know where they all are.

Not to mention when the 2nd is debated in the public arena, antis want to make things seem not to heavy handed. Normally if you say "Registration could lead to confiscation" antis want their true motives hidden. I've heard antis say that would never happen, or tell me just one time when registration led to confiscation. I normally use other countries as an example, but can now use New York.
Everytime we look the other way when someone else loses rights we disagree with, we make it easier to lose the rights we support.

Of course it will lead to confiscation, however in this case it's not actually quite to that point. (but its getting close). The police have no ability to take or search for any firearms unless the family allows it. It's a very small step from that to confiscation, but it will also be the most difficult step to traverse for the government as it will clearly violate Constitutional Amendments.

I just wish NY recognized the Constitution as a valid document.
