I'm personally sick of hearing about all 3 of these things, fix the fucking country before worrying about offending Adam and Steve or smoking a joint.

there's a TON of money spent on the wars on drugs and because it's pushed underground, there's a lot of violence from it as well. it's an important issue. the state doesn't want to let it go because they like the power and it employs a TON of individuals.

again, what's more important than fighting for liberty, whether it's small or large?

Well then here's hoping Colorado is enjoying their liberty, after all these issues are important to them as is gun control and you see how well it's working out for them.

I agree, the government should care less about people control and focus on cutting government spending, like NASA,the military, foreign aid, PBS, Planned parenthood and social security benefits to name a few...

Wink

btw, liberals & libertarians part ways on those issues when it comes to their enforcement in a major way. liberals want everything handled by the state whereas libertarians want the state to get out of the way.

when was liberty ever not worth fighting for?

The fact that Colorado is hypocritical about their people control is a shame.

I wouldn't necessarily call it 'liberty' since a) the government still regulates it and b) the feds still think weed is an illegal drug.

People are very polarized in this country. There are as many people hanging on her every word as there are knobbing BHO every time he opens his mouth.
I don't suffer from insanity.

Ha-Ha! I guess its as possible as you so missing the point by a mile. Its just as impossible debating with you as it is with the kids in her audience. The first questioner with the green sweater is a perfect example. The point was made that of all the massive issues facing us why is drugs always issue number one with some people - and her first questioner gets up with phony outrage about being labeled as a stoner! And even after pointing out that nobody called her a stoner and that was not the issue.....what does the questioner do? Yep, continue arguing the point not made. WTF?

Pretending to be intellectually honest is great but it only takes one so far before the game is up.

I'll wait for you to explain why the war on drugs ISN'T a big issue..

Just the enforcement of the said war on drugs alone is impossible for small government.

Andrews, you're providing an example of the holier than thou libertarian. You're about as tolerant as the average liberal, which isn't particularly libertarian if you ask me.

The founders were the original libertarians. The very idea exists because they brought it to life. They didn't agree on everything, they didn't agree on what should or shouldn't be legislated. The Bill of Rights itself is testament of that. The one thing they did get right though was unity despite differences and disagreements. They united, as one disagreeable people, against a common enemy. It doesn't how libertarian you may be, if you can't play nice with others you mind as well be a progressive.

no, I'm defending what libertarians believe in rather than allowing Dave to put the notion into people's mind that the stuff we defend are 'small' items when they're not.

I'm waiting for Dave to reply with:

How long the drug was has been fought

How much money we spend on increasing the prison population due to the drug war

How much the police force has been militarized to enforce the drug war

How many innocent people have been killed from this war on drugs by LEO

How many people cannot find decent jobs because their life was ruined because some drug crusader thought their victimless crime was sufficient enough for them to sit in a cage

How much liberty we've lost from the war on drugs

How much money, overall, this war has cost us all

but hey, we just defend 'small things'. Big Grin
