Speaking of axe murderers, though, that illustrates my second biggest problem with your belief system..., the first being the concept of sin and that I'm somehow born damaged and in needing of saving. Talk about mental child abuse when you foist that baggage on them.

Anyway, the second is that axe murderers, child rapist priests and all other sorts of villains get to go to heaven if they simply repent. I, on the other hand, who lives a good life of helping others, is condemned to burn in a sea of fire because your sky daddy's feelings are hurt that I don't fall to my knees for him.

How silly. The fundamentals of Christianity are logically flawed and morally bankrupt. Your heaven is no prize.

Justin

No, I am not being obtuse at all. If it weren't for laws, and the ramifications for breaking them, wouldn't you live in a lawless society?

ISIS claims to worship a God, they too have a social fabric woven for "do gooders" of their religion. Hmmm, here's a challenge for you. Stay here and hang out with the stupid CHRISTIANS, who founded this country, or take your good work to the Middle East and tell those guys "Allah is a lie".

While we are on the subject, yes you do write with a ton of arrogance and condescension, we've had this conversation before. As such, your view of "Sky Daddy" is the liberal variant, for which, like themselves is fundamentally incorrect. For instance, the Bible teaches us that man was created in God's image. After death, God then takes back that which is his, leaving the flesh of the world in the World to rot. Rather than the selfish liberal view of God looking like man, therefore having to ride a magic carpet in space, how about we view God as one would a radio wave. Can't be seen, yet we know it is there. Some tune in, others cannot. He is omnipresent, therefore, like a radio wave He can be on multiple locations, simultaneously. He is omniscient, knowing enough to have created this universe, and is omnipotent, all powerful, right around you, yet because YOU can't see him he doesn't exist- right?

While we are on that subject, no people that repent don't get a free ticket to heaven. For Jesus said that "for none will cometh unto to the Father, but through me." It is, therefore, a relationship with God that determines one's "ticket", not a lifetime of repentance or works (good deeds). In fact, Jesus also said that on that day (the last) there will be people who will cry out, "Lord, Lord...for I have prophesied in your name" (spoken highly of you)" For that Jesus will reply "Now go, and depart from me, for I never KNEW thee". It's all about your relationship with God. Yes, you will have to stand before God and atone, we all will. The difference is, true Christians will have Jesus Christ, Esquire, pleading their case.

Religious people simply take my irreverence for their beliefs as a personal attack against them. That's on them, not me. Like I've said before, I don't hold your personal religious beliefs against you as a person, but there are those here that hold mine against me. To suggest that I hate the religious is merely the projection of your own feelings on me.

I gave the gift of life to a deeply religious man who credits his god with leading me to him. That's hardly the work of a person who hates the religious.

First Justin I dont hate you, I may not agree with you but I dont know you personally and from your actions I dont think I could hate you. You saved a mans life, all I can say is well done and I hope the good that you do (I remember you bought blankets for the homeless) comes back to you two fold. MAYBE someday you faith will find you. I am no choir boy but I do firmly believe in your "sky God" and his son. I have no right and no inclination to preach to anyone. It just seems like you look at the faithful with a bit of contempt. Maybe Im reading you wrong. I know you are a good and intelligent person by your posts and buy the few things that I know you done.

That's a fair assessment :-)

I may be a harsh critic of religion on internet forums, but that doesn't mean that I hate religious people. That's only one aspect of a persons being and I don't boil them down to that one thing. I take the whole package for what it's worth. Like you said and I agree with, there are good and bad people of all faiths, or lack thereof.

I admit that I can be condescending about religion on forums...., which is why I'm staying out of another thread...., but I'm not perfect.

I won't hold your imperfections against you if you don't hold mine against me. Wink At the end of the day we agree on more than we disagree, and you're a good human...., I certainty don't hate you because you're religious.

Justin

PS I'll reply to deadeye later..., time to hit another southern BBQ joint before I fly out. Smile
