Anyone out there going to be squirrel hunting this year?
#1
Just wondering if anyone will be going squirrel hunting this year. For me it's one of my favorite things to do. I look forward to it actually. Not a lot of work involved, before or after, and I have a spot in the woods about a 20 minute walk from the back door where I can go and peacefully hunt them.

So anyone else still hunting these guys?

I go a couple times a year. I'm gonna try to make jerky this year with all the meat. Should be tasty.

Not that I have an interest in hunting squirrel but what meat do you use? I know a guy that hunts them and he only uses the legs. That seems like a waste though IMO.

Yep, I love me some squirrel. Plus good practice for "prepping." Tongue

I do like squirrel meat, but I don't see too many squirrels these days.
Not the gray one's anyway. Not much food for them.

There isn't much to a squirrel other than the legs, unless you're going to make stew, or a stock.

When it comes to squirrels, its all about the legs. It really is some good meat.

Was thinking about making some squirrel sausage if I can get enough of squirrel meat this year. It probably won't happen since my time for hunting seems to be less and less every year. Even if I only can make a pound of sausage it would be cool to try.

My wife made a pot pie out of squirrel last year that was delicious. I plan on having that as a meal once again.

I will be going out Sunday with Mrs. Chaz who is a freshly licensed hunter looking for her first kill. She's never even hit a critter with a car so this should be interesting... lol
