AR-15 ATI complete lower, any good?
#1
Stopped by Tanners today on my weekly search for a new wheel-gun and noticed they're selling ATI brand complete lowers for $135. Anyone familiar with that brand?

Yes.

Are you talking about the poly lower?

I have both their poly lower and the aluminum lower. Milled at Grassflats PA for the aluminum lower, the poly is made in NY.

The Aluminum lower matched perfectly with my YHM mil-spec upper. I also installed a CMC trigger. No gaps between both halves.

The poly lower needed a little sanding to get it to fit with the upper as well in the mag well as mags wouldnt drop free. The trigger assembly is all metal. The stock is a 6-pos commercial buffer and stock. I was able to remove the poly stock and put a DPMS Pardus stock on it without issues. Also, the take down pins area seems a bit thicker. The pins are metal. Only parts plastic is the actual receiver itself, and the but stock. Everything else is AR stock parts as far as I can tell.

There isnt much discernible weight difference between the aluminum and poly stock.

I hadn't considered a poly stock. If it's there this Monday when I do my weekly search for a revolver, I may grab it.

Now just to choose an upper. I never got suckered in to name brand either. My old DPMS AR15 shot as well as my US Gov Colt M16. As long as it works, it works.

$135 for a complete lower seems like a good start.

Very good start! But even if you don't get an upper, that lower just about pays for itself. I got my poly for 120 (pays to be friends with LGS), so 60 for stock assembly, $60 for trigger group and poly lower for free Smile

I didn't like it too much. It just didn't feel right. I check their website and they strongly note that it's unsuitable for any larger caliber than 5.56 and that concerns me. What about hotter 5.56 rounds in quick succession?

Bought an ar made by that company in grassflats. Short story is it sucked. Finally got a replacement from them. It sucks too, just not as bad as the first one.
