Noreen Firearms: An AR Pattern Rifle in 30-06? Bigger Is Better—SHOT Show 2014

ANYONE EVER HEAR OF THIS COMPANY? I LIKE THIS. das
Noreen Firearms has a new AR patterned rifle. A new AR. Right. We’ve heard that a lot at SHOT show. You don’t even have to be here in Vegas to hear someone yammering on about a new AR. But Noreen’s guns are a little bit different. It’s an AR all right, but not a 15 or a 10. An AR 10 isn’t a big enough platform for this big boy. We are talking a true long-action AR. One big enough for 30-06.

This odd rifle is the BN36, a logical twist on the old Stoner design. I can see how these rifles could be useful in Montana, where Noreen Firearms makes their guns. That’s a big western state where finding some BLM land to throw lead past 1,000 yards is easy enough to do and also a great place to hunt some of the biggest North American game at extended ranges. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/noreen-f...show-2014/

Meh, I'm on the fence...and I'm a '06 freak.

I'm more curious about this:
Quote:Do not use any ammunition manufactured before 1990 in any of our rifles. We will not warranty them.

So, what happened to ammo in 1990? Huh

Ar-10's in .308 have been around for a while. Don't see where 30.06 would make much difference.

Maybe some sort of corrosion issue? Shrug

Probably. I mean, would you want corrosive propellant up your gas tube?

Why not jsut go 308? there are many options and 308 will do just as much as 30-06, unless you reload then yes there is more flex but....

I've owned a Noreen 50BMG...it was one heavy rifle. It shot very well.

If you are serious about getting the semi auto 30/06 you should hold off until others buy and beta test the rifle.

Reason why I say this is because Noreen also offers a semi 338 Lapua Mag and guys over on the hide had issues with the rifle.

It's too much money to roll the dice, IMO.

If I were to shop for a semi 30-06, I'd probably go for a Garand.
