AR pistol project
#31
I just put the scope on today, so no grouping yet until this Friday. I expect very good groups with the handloads. No testing with the Kaw Valley brake in low light, but nothing noticible during overcast Fall day. Might be the brake, but could be the handload powder.

I got to try out both an AK and AR arm brace equipped pistol last weekend at the group shoot.

The "stock" felt a little too short on the AK, but shooting it was awesome otherwise. That Manticore Arms muzzle brake is FANTASTIC - almost eliminates recoil. I pushed it away from my shoulder for a few shots and the thing barely moved at all when I fired it.

The setup on the AR stock/buffer was good for me - almost the same position as my AR carbine.

I can't afford either at this time, but it was nice to compare a few on the range.

EM,

I wonder if the position of the dust cover sight on those yugo pistols makes it feel too short. You should try an arm brace on a Romanian sometime.

I have never shot an AK w/brace, but that one does look like it would be too short for me too. With my AR set-up, my nose touches the charging handle. Just like on my carbine. Hmmm.

My nose touches the dust cover on mine, like I said though the rear sight is further forward on the dracos. Some day I'll have the TWS top rail and a Burris fast fire or something similar...

No, it wasn't an illusion, it felt like my face was smashed into the receiver because it was. lol

Thank god for that muzzle brake!

What's the lowlight flash like?

Went out this morning. The dot on the v-brite reticle covered the dot I was aiming at, so I am certain I can shrink that group with the proper target design. Not too shabby. All centers within a 1" square or damn close enough. 5 shots @ 100yds.

Handload:

110 vmax
17.0gr IMR 4227
2.040 OAL

10.5" barrel 1:8

No chronograph info yet.

And threw in the H3 buffer for shits-and-giggles. Still ran flawlessly.

Just checked, and it looks like the dot on the v-brite is 1.5moa.
