AR triggers

What kind of trigger ass'y did you drop in your AR and why?

I've been loooking and reading reviews but would like to hear it from someone here. I've looked at so far the Timney, CMC, Wilson, & a bunch of others, seems everyone has a favorite and there's no shortage of them...yet.

I'm kinda leaning to this...

It kinda depends on the build.

I have used ("non-standard" type) White Oak Armory tuned Rock River 2-Stage National Match for a general purpose build and early, CMMG, 2-stage, adjustable (no longer available in the adjustable form, unfortunately IMHO) for a more precision oriented build. At around $130 +/- they were not insanely expensive.

4-years later there are a whole host more choices.

Geissele alone has 12 different AR semi-auto triggers but they start in the $170 street range. They also have a mill-spec-ish line that they put out under the ALG Defense name that look real nice compared to a crappy stock trigger and are $65 or less MSRP. PA (Norristown) company BTW.

The first question is what is the intended use. General purpose, 3-gun comp, super precision ...

I have the ACT trigger installed in my AR from ALG Defense. It is so nice. It's not a competition trigger, it's mil-spec. But it's an improved mil-spec. I really like it, easy to install and feels great.

SR-556...great gun...shitty trigger.
Ruger tells me anything Mil-Spec would work but would like something better than average. Would like 3 or 4 lb. pull.
I plan on doing some 3 gun this summer.

I found a Jewel I like but out of stock...figures

I haven't tested, but I'd put the ACT at about 5lbs

I tried the Spikes Battle trigger in a precision rifle and was not happy. It is just a coated milspec heavy pull trigger. It is smooth but way too heavy for precision.

I bought a Geissele SSA-E and instantly fell in love. After getting mu long range jollies in I started working with it at short range. Many people say not to use it for home defense etc, I worked with it enough that I am comfortable with its operation and bought another to put in my current SBR build.

Also have the spikes battle trigger and fits my use very well. However all the internals were from spikes enhanced LPK. Breaks over 5 lbs but mine is so crisp it feels much less. If you care to play around with yours until you get a new one here is some info that may help: http://www.sargenthome.com/15_Minute_AR_Trigger_Job.htm

Too bad, so sad. Wilson Combat had that on sale for 216.95, which ended yesterday.

They did have 20 rd. USGIs for 18.95 up til this morning, but expect them to return after the first of the year.
I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?
