You can have it just don't carry it around with you if it's spring assisted.

Spring assisted are legal, fully automatic, like a switchblade are not.*

One of the last gun shows I went to a vender was selling switchblades, thought that was kind of curious.

* You can have them as a curio, but if you get caught with one in public, you'll have to defend it in court, and possibly win.

I looked it up before buying one and basically I understood it to be that you have to open it by your own power a certain distance before the spring takes over.... Called "assisted open" or something. I carry a small one in my purse..... As long as the first couple millimeters is manual I understood it to be legal.

Seriously???

I just got a SOG Twitch Tanto as a gift!!!

TouTube video

Here's the SOG link for my knife. It says "assisted opening" but doesn't mention a "spring". Not sure if that means anything though.

That S&W looks to operate in a similar fashion.

Im going to call the Sheriff's Dept. tomorrow and ask. The PSP doesnt know and I need to be 100% sure. I dodged a potentially serious legal issue in 2013 and I dont want to chance a legal problem. I will let you know what I find out.
