Quote:While anti-gun advocates argue that banning semi-automatic rifles, like the popular AR-15, will help decrease shooting deaths in the U.S., FBI data suggests that the average American is more likely to be killed by “hands, fists” or “feet” than a rifle.

“Yes, massacres tend to be done with weapons like this. But not most gun murders in the U.S.: a vast majority of gun murders in the U.S. are committed with a handgun,”

I get and agree with what you're saying, but come on...let's be realistic here.

8775 TOTAL deaths by firearms is what they will point out vs 4221 OTHER deaths, and that handgun bar is SO big and red that is all they will see, and all they will fixate on.

It helps make the case that it isn't ONLY guns responsible for crime, but it doesn't tip the scales.

But it does help illustrate the falicy (sp) of their knee jerk reaction.

Alcohol abuse kills some 75,000 Americans each year and shortens the lives of these people by an average of 30 years, a U.S. government study suggested Thursday.
Don't miss these Health stories

Excessive alcohol consumption is the third leading cause of preventable death in the United States after tobacco use and poor eating and exercise habits.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which published the study, estimated that 34,833 people in 2001 died from cirrhosis of the liver, cancer and other diseases linked to drinking too much beer, wine and spirits.
Another 40,933 died from car crashes and other mishaps caused by excessive alcohol use. LINK: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6089353/ns/h...NRxaq6OhnQ

Agree with Camper.

I'd be careful with that graphic. It could make a good case for banning handguns if enough dumb asses can't be bothered to crunch the raw numbers and research the stats as well.

I enjoy every minute of it.

Not enough, unfortunately. As half track mentions, it gives credence to an outright handgun ban for the antis to argue for.

What we have to show is how gun bans do not end gun crime, and how the per capita rates for crime are still lower in areas where there are no bans.

That chart is a good way to get handguns banned.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile
