It's the "BILL OF RIGHTS" not the bill of "needs"

I'm fairly certain that everyone that works in that call center in Mumbai doesn't give a flying fuck what Americans can and cannot buy with the CC.

I call BS. How would they know that you are buying guns and ammo? I can assure you they aren't using a name filter on the merchant, I have numerous transactions posted from a "Dave's Gun Shop" as recent as yesterday.

I cannot find any information that they are indeed stopping purchases for firearms or ammunition on standard CC's. But it would appear they do have a mechanism in place to know exactly what is being charged to the card for every purchase at approval time.

I'm basing that upon this: https://prepaid.bankofamerica.com/relief...rogram.htm

It's a site based upon their Relief Cards they give out during emergencies. It clearly states that you cannot buy Alcohol, Firearms or Tobacco products. If they have that mechanism built into the processing of those prepaid cards, it would be trivial to have it also run on other cards as well.

EBT cards cannot be used for certain purchases as well, so it would stand to reason that the same type of system that denies those purchases could be put in place on normal CC cards.

That jives a bit more with my experiences then so I can't dismiss the possibility so easily. I use my CC for all purchases. Honestly I don't even know why I carry my debit card with me I haven't used it in well over a year.

I always assumed those statements of what you can and can't use the cards for were like "no guns" signs, something they can say but can't really enforce, but if your neighbor happens to call up and rat you out they stick you with the balance. I've never worked in the banking industry but I have done a good deal with credit card APIs, I've never had to pass along info other than the charge amount. I'm far from an expert on the subject though.

Banks can and do have the ability to filter transactions. I worked for a large bank until they shut my location down. When you buy something with a card, we get alot more information than you would ever see on a statement.

I have to call BS on this one as I purchased a Smith & Wesson firearm last week and used my Bank of America credit card for the purchase of the firearm and ammo.

Got my credit card statement and paid it off when the bill arrived.

It pisses me off when people bastardize the truth and facts to support their arguments. This is as bad as some of the anti crap I read every day.
