Bass Pro Shops Refuses to ship to PITTSBURGH/PHILLY
#1
I just got lucky enough to add 2 boxes of Federal 22LR to my cart, get free shipping AND a $10 Off code applied for what made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I mean - 650 rds of elusive 22LR for about $32? WOO-HOO!!!
Smile

Then I looked at my Email confirmation.

Sad

Quote:Emptymag, thank you for your order!

We take great pride in providing you with the best possible service. However, we regret to inform you that we are unable to process your order because the items you requested are restricted from the shipping address on your order. Your order has been cancelled, and you have not been charged. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but look forward to serving you in the future!

WHAT? Huh

Gotta be an error. Maybe the $10 code wasn't allowed to be stacked with free shipping, or more likely the ammo sold out.

Hmmm... I'll try the online CHAT!

Here it is...

Quote:Debbie: Hi, my name is Debbie. Thank you for letting me assist you today!

Emptymag: Order Number: 21XXX24
Emptymag: Why was it cancelled?
Emptymag: "we regret to inform you that we are unable to process your order because the items you requested are restricted from the shipping address on your order. Your order has been cancelled, and you have not been charged"

Debbie: One moment please.

Debbie: Ammunition is restricted from sale to CT, DC, IL, MA, NJ, NY, Annapolis, MD, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose, Carson City, Santa Ana, Santa Clara, Marin County, Contra Costa County, and San Francisco, CA, New Orleans, LA, St. Paul City, MN, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia, PA.

This item is restricted from shipping to your location.

Emptymag: Seriously? That's ridiculous. Never heard of such a thing. This isn't liberal Cali and we have ZERO ammo restrictions in PA

Debbie: I am sorry, however, we are unable to ship this to you.

Emptymag: Say goodbye. You have chosen to alienate customers with your choice. I will no longer suggest your products, services, web specials to anyone again. I will no longer shop at Bass Pro Shops.

Debbie: Thank you for contacting Bass Pro Shops. I hope you have a great day!

Debbie has disconnected.

Seriously?

Fuck Dick's Sporting Goods, Field and Stream, AND Bass Pro Shops!
Buncha Fudds and worm drowners!

Just thought you'd like to know. I've gotten ammo from them before, so I don't know when this went into effect.

Are you sure it's a store rule and not a new overall state rule? Or maybe a new shipping rule via whoever does their shipping? I know the post office just put into effect a few stupid rules. I tried sending my sister some body spray/perfume stuff that I didn't need anymore and there is a limit on "flammable liquids" you can send. I had to actually package up two of the bottles and mail them in a separate box. Rolleyes

I hope Cabela's doesn't follow suit. UPS is delivering a few boxes of 5.7 to me from them on Wednesday and I'm in Philly.

Well, fuck those guys, then. That isn't any state law, or city ordninance that's listed anywhere, so it must be a corporate policy. F-U-C-K them.

Actually, Streaker posted up some legal - I mean ILLEGAL gun law crap that Pittsburgh had passed requiring photo ID be shown to buy ammo. (or something to that effect)

So Pittsburgh's illegal gun laws are to blame - even though the law that says they can't do that was just clarified by the courts to again say that they can't do that.

And the pisser is that my ZIP code turns up a result of "Pittsburgh", but I do NOT live in Pittsburgh - I'm in a surrounding municipality - not even a "part" of Pittsburgh.
No taxes go to Pittsburgh, no police response comes from Pittsburgh - because I don't live in Pittsburgh.

Actually, they apparently passed the law back in 1993. I suspect that they were made aware of the law by the Ninnies Demand Action.

Alright, I just tried to buy ammo and have it shipped to my brother in Philly. Same story. Not that I didn't believe you, EM, I just wanted to witness the bullshittery for myself.

I just got off the phone with their CS department, to raise some questions. They claim they decided it was in their best interests to follow local "laws" that ban shipping ammo to those cities. I put on my Polite Pants, and informed her that even if there WERE any such laws, which I could find no proof of, they were illegal ordinances, and totally unenforceable, due to the guidelines expilictly laid out by the UFA.

I got put on hold, and she came back after a few minutes; she contacted their legal department, and said that the company was going by their lawyers' interpretation of the law, and that to avoid any sort of liability, they won't ship ammo to either town.

"What liability?" I asked. No answer. I thanked her for her time, and hung up, and posted this shit all over Facebook. I also told the lady to expect a number of calls over the next few days, since I'd be sharing this info.

That's a huge problem. I'm in Illinois. There is no law restricting shipping ammo in the state that in aware of, except maybe Chicago. How many places on that list require a firearm owners ID card (called FOID Card in Illinois)? Other ammo retailers just hold the order until a copy of the FOID Card is faxed/emailed to them. This is pursuant to 430 ILCS 65. I wonder if Bass Pro is just saying, "We don't want to deal with the hassle of that crap."

I haven't had a chance to sit and write a letter to them yet.

I should also mention the fact that I don't reside in the city of Pittsburgh and that their illegal ordinances do not apply and see what their response to THAT is.

I DID unsubscribe from getting further emails. Don't care about the "deals" any longer.
I gave a condensed explanation in the comment section describing my reason for unsubscribing.
