Bensalem school lockdown--good grief

Quote:A Bensalem elementary school was placed on lockdown for about an hour Wednesday after a temporary employee made a comment involving a weapon, police said.
Belmont Hills students overheard the unidentified non-teacher employee, a man in his 70s, make the comment about 1:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria, Bensalem police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman said.
The comment had nothing to do with a weapon at the school, Aninsman said, but was a general comment involving a weapon.
The students immediately reported what they heard to school officials, who called police according to procedures. The school was placed on lockdown until police found the person who made the comment, Aninsman said.
The man was interviewed at police headquarters. No criminal charges are pending, Aninsman said. The man is being taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
There is no evidence that a weapon was ever on school property, but police conducted a full school search. No weapon was found, and the lockdown was lifted after about an hour.
Aninsman said the district sent out electronic notifications about the lockdown to parents and other schools.

Oh my word. RUN! RUN! SOMEBODY SAID "GUN"! AHHHHH!

If I were a clever kid in school today, I might see this as a sure fire way to get out of a 6th period History test. You can't get into any actual trouble for saying the word "gun" but the benefit to strategic use of the school's overreaction are obvious.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

I find this sentence to be most concerning for a multitude of reasons concerning rights violations. "See a shrink lose your guns"

they can easily do this to anyone, anytime , for any reason

Unless I missed it, the article explicitly says "Weapon." It never once mentions the word "gun" or even what kind of weapon.

Could have been ANYTHING, really.

I would like to know what was said. Did he make a threat against a student? Was he talking about taking his grand-kid hunting? Was he talking about the new fillet knife he got for his tackle box? Did he tell the kids to "watch out, my farts are deadly--silent but violent"?

I'm not excusing the lock down OR the psyche evaluation, I just want to know what was said. Especially since if GUN was mentioned, the article would have said it over and over again.

We were already there my friend, when schools suspend kids under 10 because a pop tart is shaped like a gun, make their hand into a gun, etc. ...

I'm pretty sure the headline I originally saw in my news app said "gun" but true, the article carefully avoids it.

I am very curious what the mental evaluation was for....and if it is standard or if the guy did something to merit it.

Since it was said during lunch, though, I assume it was just casual talk between two adults that a kid overheard.

Incidentally, this site has good SEO. I did a search quick to see if any articles online said "gun" and this forum website was at the bottom of the first page quoting this post, and I only posted this an hour ago.
