Best Food Shows
#1
I don't watch the Food Network much, but there are a couple of shows that I've learned a lot from. My absolute favorite is Alton Brown's Good Eats. Mostly because he gets into the history and science behind the preparation and has a really good sense of humor.

I also like Guy Fieri cooking show and his Diner Drive In's and Dives. Not a big fan of the competition type shows, as it's just a bunch of fake drama and not much inn actual learning new stuff.

What do you guys like?

I like a few cooking shows. But they seem to come and go. Alton Brown is good. Triple d is not a cooking show in my mind. It is more of a travelloge . There was a show I liked years ago the Naked Chef. He traveled atound in a trailer yhat looked like a toaster.

Because I like shows where I learn different things about cooking. Doing different things with some of the most basic ingredients. Good Eats is a perfect example of that. I've made quite a few things that I've seen on his show, and everything was excellent.

If you have a good background in cooking and you can keep up with the pace of Triple D, you can use much of what they're making for ideas at home. Obviously the fast pace of the show could make that difficult. DVR'ing it so you can pause & repeat would probably be good.

Good Eats is my all time favorite and the only show from which I have actually learned anything.

I also like DDD and Restaurant Impossible, but those two are not really cooking shows per se.

Unwrapped & Good Eats is good, I enjoy both.

Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern is really good too, he eats weird strange crap from other cultures that you might actually be forced to eat in a true SHTF scenario, and talks about how its prepared. But I think that show is on Travel.
