Big Obamacare Shock May Come at Tax Time

Not paying wages should be a crime. Period. I detest it. If you have to let people go because you can't afford them that's understandable. If you still keep them without the funds you should go to jail. Period.

Quote: Novitas Solutions is the federal government's new Medicare payment processor for the south-central region of the country hired by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS.) ABC-KTRK in Houston reports:

According to the CEO Jason Leday, more than 150 employees haven't been paid in nearly a month.

"I understand that they have children and a house payment, bills. Not getting paid is wow," nearby resident Theresa Gutierrez said.

The hospital is strapped for cash not because its not making money, but because Leday says a new Medicare payment facilitator named Novitas Solutions is taking too way long to pay out Medicare claims to the hospital.

Leday says he's owed nearly $3 million in payments from Medicare and can't make payroll...

The Texas Medical Association says they are familiar with complaints like this one regarding the medicare payment facilitator- and a representative told us smaller community hospitals like this one are in similar situations.

I agree, except I think that they should throw the government in jail until they pay what they agreed to pay. The hospital will get in trouble for turning people away...the only alternative is for them to stay open and hope the government pays what is promised.

That is really something that those people have worked for an entire month for free.

Sickening...and terrifying. It does not bode well for the future.

True. The government should be. However the bosses and the cfo must have known they couldn't cover the payroll much earlier. They should have laid people off for a few weeks. They can't get in trouble if they close the doors.

True. Although I imagine the workers would rather hold out for a month or two in hopes the paychecks will come back through, rather than be laid off and not have work whatsoever.

I see your point though and do not disagree. Just not sure what the best advice would have been for the hospital.

Stupid Obama. Stupid Obamacare. SIGH.

I laughed out loud at this article.

http://cnsnews.com/mrctv-blog/matt-vespa...e-holidays

Quote:In his weekly address released on Saturday, January 4, President Obama had the audacity to slam Republicans for "going home for the holidays" and letting unemployment insurance benefits expire. The only problem is that Obama said this while still on his holiday vacation in Hawaii.

A day before his Sunday return to Washington, DC, from a two-week holiday visit to the state of his birth, Obama criticized Republicans for going home for the holidays:

"Just a few days after Christmas, more than one million of our fellow Americans lost a vital economic lifeline - the temporary insurance that helps folks make ends meet while they look for a job. Republicans in Congress went home for the holidays and let that lifeline expire. And for many of their constituents who are unemployed through no fault of their own, that decision will leave them with no income at all."

As the Washington Post reports, Obama spend Saturday golfing, hiking, and dining with his family in Hawaii:

***Edited to add that I was laughing too hard at his idiocy to notice it was unemployment insurance, not regular insurance, so technically this is off topic...sorry...but I didn't want to start a whole new thread....Stupid Obama is on topic for stupid Obama, really....
