Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke with top Democratic donors at a private meeting on Saturday where, according to Politico, he warned the group to treat gun control differently than other political issues.

“Do not patronize the passionate supporters of your opponents by looking down your nose at them,” Clinton reportedly said. “A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things…”

He proceeded to explain how, though polling data is certainly useful for politicians, it doesn’t measure the emotion and enthusiasm associated with an issue. And it’s the passion associated with gun control, Clinton argued, that makes it so delicate.......

But he said that he understands the culture that permeates a state like Arkansas — where guns are a longstanding part of local culture.
“A lot of these people … all they’ve got is their hunting and their fishing,” he told the Democratic financiers. “Or they’re living in a place where they don’t have much police presence. Or they’ve been listening to this stuff for so long that they believe it all.” [Emphasis added]

Maybe he should take his own adviceShrug He probably doesn't even know what he actually said.

I think he knows exactly whay he said but the paper didnt like it so turned the story into something completely different. Hes telling them that gun owners will beat the shit out of them and in some cases your persepctive is wrong.. hes warning them not to go too far.
Maybe they'll stop patronizing gun culture when he stops patronizing fat chicks.
I could be wrong, but I think even BHO is now starting to see just how polarizing and dangerous this issue really is. Clinton is smart enough to understand it full well. He knows that we really could cause some serious problems if pushed too far.

They're just not quite sure how we will really react, but the smart ones among them do have a healthy concern about our ability to push back. The ones who do know what's going on know that the election numbers from '12 aren't really a mandate at all, especially if you discount the dishonesty that most certainly occurred in the process.

A 51-49 margin (give or take a little, if it's legit) isn't something I'd be real comfortable with if I had to push an agenda too far. If you tip the fence-sitters, you're going to get your ass handed to you.

IMO, their desperation to marginalize us and the NRA tells me just how seriously they do take us. You don't expend that kind of effort to demonize people who are not a threat.
I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.
