Bill Cosby

Curious what you guys think about the Bill Cosby thing? I don't know what I think. I guess it really doesn't matter much....the guy is 77 years old....all this stuff "happened" decades ago. It sort of seems like Herman Cain and Clarence Thomas. It could be true....but it seems funny that one accusation comes out and then like 16 other girls jump up saying "Me too! Me too!"

People have pointed out that he has been siding with Republicans and trying to get the black community to work and pull themselves up out of the "plantation" and that this could be the result...but I didn't think he has been THAT vocal lately...I don't know, I really don't follow him, I guess.

I'm sure he had many flings with many women...but I don't know if I fully believe this whole bandwagon coming out and claiming to be raped. Eh.

Cosby is outspoken about the troubles of the black community, which conservatives love, but siding with republicans?

Quote:Bill Cosby says those who oppose Obama are racist

By Cheryl K. Chumley - The Washington Times - Monday, March 4, 2013

Comedy and television icon Bill Cosby slammed Republicans who failed to stand for President Obama’s State of the Union speech, likening them to racists who opposed desegregation.

“I think we have people sitting there,” he said, referring to the president’s SOTU speech, during a CNN television interview reported by Mediaite, “who are as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation.”

His comments came in context of a discussion about racism and the 1965 Bloody Sunday march across Selma, Ala., Mediate reported. Rep. Connie Mack said “it’s just hard to believe,” and “it’s unbelievable,” in reference to the level of racism that marked that decade, Mediate reported.

“I don’t think so,” Mr. Cosby said, Mediate reported. “Not when you look at the president’s speech recently.”

That’s when he made the remarks about those who failed to stand for Mr. Obama’s speech. He didn’t say Republicans — but it was members of the Republican Party, not Democratic Party, who failed to stand.

“And then in place of a better America, they want their own sick feelings put across and … it isn’t a good time,” he said, as Mediate reported. “But I think, also on our part as professors and presidents of colleges all over, and in public schools, we need to get the education of the correct history that happened so people can say, ‘Yes, this really did happen.’ “

As a kid one of my fist vinyl albums was "Cool Cos" and even today I can laugh at the stories on that (and other) records. He is one of the only comedians that I know that can tell a story and get me rolling yet not utter a single cuss word. As a comedian I like him.

I don't agree with his politics, although calling the black community out was spot on.

As for the recent allegations, it's not the first time:

One of those was settled out of court. Don't know what to make of that but it leaves my mind suspicious.

The bandwagon, nobody wants to be first, but when someone finally brings it to light then others may say to themselves well if that person can admit it so can I.

Yeah I didn't really believe it until I read the article about the settlement out of court. Uh oh, bad sign.

Although I still don't quite believe quite ALL of the ones were "rape". While I am absolutely against rape (of course, duh) I do think that there are rare occasions when the woman puts herself out there and sends signals, and then things happen, and when she regrets it or gets upset, she calls "rape". I don't know if any of these accusations would fall under that category, and will probably never know.

Sorry if I was mistaken about the Republican thing, I read it somewhere online the other day and now I don't remember where to pull it back off. Must have been poor info.

Man, you's guy's really need to turn the television off for a change. I never realize how peaceful my life is without news or TV until someone reminds me about what the mass media is blabbering on about currently.

I wasn't aware of this "Bill Cosby thing" or any other topic posted here about such and such a person doing this or that so I don't have an opinion.

I don't know if the allegations are true or not. But what history has shown us about people in entertainment business is that sexual assaults, abuse, coercion and accusations of such are prevalent. Would it surprise me if Bill Cosby did this? No, it wouldn't. Would it surprise me if this were a lie? No, it wouldn't.

I do find it is suspicious when anyone settles a case out of court for an undisclosed sum and a gag order.

I don't even watch tv but I get my news online. :-)

Yeah I would have given him the benefit of the doubt except the undisclosed settlement.....

Although I still find it hard to believe all the "Me Too's" but you never know, I guess.

Beyond that and seeing the Cosby Show, I really don't pay much attention to him or what people have claimed.

He was very funny when he was younger, by the time the Cosby show came out, I think his schtick was played out. Never understood how that show ran as long as it did. I think it's very easy to believe that he could be one thing on stage and something completely different offstage, after all, that's what acting is all about. Consider the story of Roman Polanski who is still celebrated by the industry and a child rapist.

Too much of the entertainment industry is devoid of morals and too many children/young people have had their lives ruined by seeking that life style.

Really true...especially considering those who started as children and then once they hit adulthood went like crazy wild and lewd and addicted to drugs, etc.
