Bill to prohibit civillian ownership of .mil armor

Quote:SAN JOSE - Rep. Mike Honda, D-San Jose, today announced legislation that would block civilians from accessing military-grade body armor to prevent criminals from using them in gun battles with law enforcement.

Honda, speaking at a news conference in San Jose this morning with police chiefs and the district attorneys and sheriffs from Santa Clara and Alameda counties, said his proposal would discourage criminals from wearing enhanced body armor to commit mass shootings.

"This bill will keep military body armor out of the wrong hands," Honda said. "It would ensure that only law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders would be able to access enhanced body armor."
Ugh. Signal the start of another market shortage.
The law? The law is a human institution...
Their stupidity knows no bounds. Anytime they use the words "common sense," it's anything but.

Quote:"The proposed law would prohibit the sale, transfer or possession of military-level body armor by civilians."

That means law enforcement would also be prohibited from owning body armor, as they are civilians.

I'm guessing this bill wont get very far.
I guess we'll all just have to go Ned Kelly on them.

I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.
Is Honda also running illegal guns and body armor into the country to give to criminals. Now I can sell my Saiga and body armor as a package deal.Big Grin

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.
If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

You weren't planning to waterski with protection were you?
The law? The law is a human institution...
So is this to be an overly broad interpretation of "body armor"? Are umpires and motocross riders and rodeo folks and other such folks also be denied?
tolerance for failure meter... LOW
