I was lucky enough to see Johnny play a few years ago at Penn's Peak. His health wasn't the best then, he played from a chair and had to be helped on and off the stage, but that didn't stop him from jamming on.

I worked with him there a couple of times. I might have even been doing monitors at this show. Smile

Age had caught up with him, but when they sat him down, and put that guitar in his hands, he still knew what to do with it. He need a battery for his tuner before the show, and when I walked in to the dressing room to give him one, he was very frail looking, but he really impressed me how well he could still play.

I ran in to Gene Simmons the next week, and got to thank him for being an inspiration to me as a young lad, that led in to a career that had me working with Cheap Trick and Johnny the previous week, his eyes lit up, he asked me about Johnny, and from then on we were just two guys bullshitting about music. Pretty cool!

R.I.P. Johnny Winter.

damn shame, he will be missed. christmas 1978 we were visiting friends in camp hill when they got a call from their son saying he was 20 minutes away and was bringing to friends with. his mom and dad had a huge home so no big deal. dan hartman who had released a album on which edgar winter had played, came home with none other than edgar and johnny. it was one of the best presents a 15 year old could get
