Thinking of putting together a bag to keep in my truck ready to go should I need to leave Erie(school) and get home to my family and friends (180 miles away). Was thinking about using a messenger style bag with a flap. Would also modify it to securely carry spare rifle/pistol mags to be a little more discreet then wearing a tac vest LOL.
So my question is would a messenger bag be a good choice for something along these lines and besides the obvious what would be some good things to keep packed up.

I have a bag like that I picked up at a gunshow last summer. I use it for hiking. It has a large pocket that can be accessed from the top that has velcro inside and "holster" for a pistol. Inside a large pocket under the flap it has elastic straps that can hold two AR mags and two pistol mags. Then it has four smaller pockets that are covered by the flap. On the flap itself it has a narrow pocket that could hold maps and such. The flap also has velcro and molle attachments. It also has a pouch on the shoulder strap for a cell phone/radio, and a waist strap so it doesn't flop around if you had to run.

Think it cost like $45.

I bought the following bag for a GHB/Hiking day-pack:
Get Home Bag

I have it stocked with my own version of a GHB, but the basics are similar to what Justin posted in his thread. For $35 you can't beat it. I have plenty of room for everything I need. It's also made very well. I think it will last for quite a long time.

Ill keep that in mind as it looks to be well made and the price is good. I would just like something a little more low key if possible.

Something else I saw in Justins thread was a encrypted flashdrive. Are they any different from a regular flashdrive of could I encrypt mine? Also what type of documents should I keep on said flashdrive?

As for documents, I have tax returns, IDs, property documents, pay statements, birth certificate, social security card, bank cards, insurance cards, medical cards, prescription, dd 214, etc.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
