Nice line-up of speakers.

I've posted it on a couple of Doylestown Facebook pages.

I also noted the "gun free zone" issue and wondered at it, but then again the target audience is apt to be people who don't carry--- yet.

Perhaps they had difficulty finding a local carry-friendly space which would accommodate their desired audience size. Bucks County Fish and Game comes to mind (concealed carry only), but might have been on the small side, and definitely not available on a Tuesday night.

I don't understand the "HOW"

With the topic, how could you possibly think you would get 2A people to show up, that is right around the corner from me but I'm not going..

I notice some try to explain away or understand why a 2A discussion at a anti 2A Facility, Speaking for myself I can only think Sheer stupidity. I have nothing but respect for the speakers. Hell I voted for duke but I'm literally tired of compromising..Your renting that space to have this affair, why would you rent from what Goes against what you believe in..

I could understand if it was believed, in the sense you believe something opposite of what I believe but it's not, it's nothing more than policy, corporate policy..

It just doesn't make sense..Actions, Deeds & Words mean something..

My action won't support their words/policy..

I would be interested in the attendance though.
With the Second Amendment saying what it says, Why isn't the Federal Government Suing NY

If I was there I would be going. It would be a nice change of pace for me. I'm getting tired of attending anti 2A meetings. I was at one last night. 1 of the speakers was a retired FBI agent whose career was in art crime. I schooled him on firearms laws so badly that he sat down. Another speaker was the attorney that represented Highland Park in Friedman v Highland Park. I asked him about the law and how it applies. He couldn't answer the question, especially the ones pertaining to military personnel "in the curse of their duty."

I fail to see how they aren't preempted.

It's a county-owned school, not private property; counties are preempted.

Only primary and secondary schools are gun-free zones by the PA statute.

It could be argued, I guess, that as an educational institution they can put whatever rules they want in place for their faculty, staff, and students, but they have no power to sanction the taxpaying public who might just be there for a seminar or other event.

Is there something I'm missing?

Perhaps one could attend and ask that very question.

^^^^ Exactly!

I have sent an e-mail to the organizers already. I do plan to attend to see what information my DA and Sheriff are spouting off and to hopefully correct their mistakes.

We've just worked out the details for a special guest speaker - Shaneen Allen.

You may remember that Shaneen is the twice-assaulted, Philadelphia mother of two that had recently acquired a defensive firearm and her LTCF and was subsequently arrested and viciously prosecuted for merely taking her pistol into NJ. Despite the unusual confluence of a media spotlight highlighting her unwitting mistake and draconian treatment under NJ law - while a violent celebrity domestic-abuser got off with a "slap on the wrist", eventual probation granted by a chastened prosecutor, and a subsequent pardon by the NJ Govenor, Shaneen is still struggling get her life back on track due to the ongoing effects of her case. (For more information on her story see: http://www.shaneenallen.org/)

Some might argue that Shaneen should have known the law. In a perfect world, they are correct. However, if you are new to firearms, there is no manual available that explains all the legal pitfalls. Firearms law can be confusing even to longtime firearms owners. Shaneen’s case highlights the need for the education of firearms owners, both old and new.

I don't know but it may be an administrative thing. How many places already have any equipment they may need and flexible seating arrangements (i.e. classroom with rearrangable seating or an auditorium) already in place? That may be the only reason for the location....
