Bulgarian 35 Round Polymer AR15 Mags
#1
35 round Bulgarian polymer AR15 mags by ISD Bulgaria Ltd.

I ran across these at Apex Gun Parts for $15 and thought I'd give them a try.

From the website:
Quote:These excellent quality polymer magazines are current Bulgarian production.
The magazines have steel reinforced feed lips to ensure reliable feeding, non tilt follower and a polymer floorplate.

I Googled them before ordering and saw that a few people had successfully altered the followers to allow 38/39 rounds to be loaded.
That sounded intriguing, so I ordered two with my AK mag order.

They appear to be nicely made. Absolutely not in the same class as a PMAG in that I wouldn't want to run one over with a truck, but it's plenty solid enough for range use, and I would suspect it's tougher than it appears. If I squeeze it hard in the middle, I can feel a slight flex, but aside from that, I think feels more durable than some aluminum USGI mags.
There's a slight texture to the finish which reduces glare and should help when handling them.
The finish is even and flawless, with clean molding seams, and no molding flash that needs to be trimmed off.

his pic is a little blurry, but here's the follower...

The follower moves up and down smoothly and firmly when I press it in with a pen.

Here is the disassembled magazine...

Close up of the bottom of the follower. It is said that by removing some of the material from the bottom, at least three more rounds can be loaded, while retaining the functionality of the magazine.

Can't wait to try them out!

I'll be sure to post again once I've tried them. Smile

My only question regarding this product would be: Why?

I am sure it will be as trustworthy as an American made AK magazine. I buy my AR magazines from American companies who manufacture them for war just like I get my AK magazines from countries that manufacture them for war. JMO of course.

Since you only asked one question, I'll only give one answer. "Why not?"

Bulgarian Special Forces use the HK416.

Bulgaria is a NATO member as well.

Do they use these 35 rounders in their 416's though? Huh
