#1
Quote:The massacre in Newton, Conn., and other mass shootings have prompted for a call to curb gun violence, [and] California Assembly Member Nancy Skinner answered that call with a proposal to restrict ammunition sales in the state. ...

Monday she unveiled Assembly Bill 48. It would require bullet buyers to show identification. It would also require ammunition dealers to be licensed and report all sales to the Department of Justice. ...

That is possibly one of the dumbest bills I've ever heard of. What, exactly, would that stop and how would it affect people who by ammo in NV, AZ, OR, or any other state and then bring it in themselves? Of course this is coming from a grad of that great institution of higher learning Berkely so....DodgyAngry

This shit was tried after Aurora. None of it went anywhere. A lot of these restrictions were in place previously but were repealed in 1986 with FOPA.

Pretty much. It was a serendipitous event, no doubt about it, but it still hasn't generated the sustained outrage they desperately need.

I enjoy every minute of it.

Pretty much. It was a tailor made event, no doubt about it, but it still hasn't generated the sustained outrage they desperately need.

The timing sucked for them. The shooting happened just before Christmas and New Years, then the taxes went up for everybody. The holidays distracted, the taxes pissed them off.

That bill would eventually do something if we made sure that everyone on mind altering drugs has a big, fat, red MENTALLY UNSTABLE - NOT ALLOWED TO PURCHASE ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, FIREARMS OR EXPLOSIVES on their ID. If we can have the report to the department of injustice exchanged with such requirement, I'll be fine with it.

Mentally unstable, such a loaded word.

Seems that the facts for killers however, are mentally unstable AND prescribed psycho drugs.

But who's askin?

And it's really not just psycho drugs. AL the drug ads they run on TV now include HUGE lists of side effects to the point of being most of the commercial.

Take Viagra? Potential killer. ;-x

Maybe they should be forced to wear identifying patches on their sleeves. Maybe they should be tattooed with a serial number to identify them as well.
