You are correct, I should not have used democracy in my post. I should have said republic. (BTW, it certainly feels like a democracy today)

Technically a democratic republic. As Jefferson predicted, liberty is lost.

I don't know how to calculate the number of people to blame but whatever percentage voted for the incumbent in most cases are to blame. Obama didn't pass the NDAA or Obamacare. Congress did. All he did was give it a final ok. If you want to place the blame anywhere, politically, place it square on Congress. Obama can't do anything until Congress puts it on his desk. It doesn't matter who is in the White House really. If Congress didn't pass bullshit laws for Obama to sign, he couldn't do much of anything. If they pass something worthwhile (try not to laugh this is hypothetical) and he vetoes it, they can override him. As we are a republic, you have to pick your representatives well. They are the ones that can screw you far more than the president can.

Fair enough; point taken, but a number of GOP candidates lost seats to Dem opponents, so the voter support was there for "his" agenda. The real deal will be what happens in mid term when a number of seats come up for grabs.

This election was bought (any accusations of fraud notwithstanding) with "free phones" and promised handouts; it's only going to get worse, until they run out of money and the massive amounts they print become so much toilet paper.

And, as we're so fond of mentioning on this forum, there is always the issue of executive orders.
I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.

Congress did not make OMaocare.....The Regime did......not a single R voted for it. It was rammed down our throat with "reconciliation" by the OMao, Reid, Pelosi trinity.

Sorry, but the INMATES are running the asylum.......and 11/6 was the last day to stop it......We now are socialist on the way to Communist. You will have no doubts, and very few rights, by 2016.

Vote Results: House Passes Obamacare
Benjamin Domenech –
Benjamin Domenech –

The final vote tally for the Senate version of President Obama's health care reform legislation in the House was 219-212, with 34 Democrats joining all Republicans in opposition.

The key takeaway for opposition groups is that Speaker Pelosi needed to make a last-day deal with Rep. Bart Stupak and his small group of pro-life Democrats in order to achieve passage. That deal came in the form of an executive order from the White House, which we explained here. Democrats who opposed were:

Adler, Altmire, Arcuri, Barrow, Berry, Boren, Boucher, Bright, Chandler, Childers, A.Davis, L.Davis, C.Edwards, Herseth Sandlin, Holden, Kissell, Kratovil, Lipinski, Lynch, Marshall, Matheson, McIntyre, McMahon, Melancon, Minnick, Nye, Peterson, Ross, Shuler, Skelton, Space, Tanner, Taylor, Teague

We're finished as a Republic, and here's why:

http://news.yahoo.com/poll-shows-support...05430.html

A majority of Americans favor raising taxes on "someone else" to make sure they keep getting the freebies they're used to. Here's a telling quote:

"If you are fortunate and have some extra, you need to help those who don't," said Robin Keck, 49, of Golden Valley, Minn., who owns a framing business and supports ending tax cuts for the rich. "I believe people who have more money generally find more uses for it than putting other people to work."

If you're successful, it's because you're fortunate and not because you work harder or are smarter or whatever. It's simply luck, and since you're lucky you should pay for those who aren't. He also glosses over the fact that wealthy people spend their money on houses, boats, cars, lawn care, restaurants, growing businesses, etc., and all those things means jobs for everyday Americans. Plus our friend Robin Keck here doesn't even address how wasteful the federal government is. It's just accepted that people shouldn't be allowed to spend their money as they see fit - through charitable donations for example. Rather, the accepted course of action is to confiscate wealth and let the feds redistribute whatever is left after they waste most of it.

How do we come back from this nationwide attitude shift?

Its disingenuous to say "Congress" did this without identifying which congress did it. Congress' makeup changes with elections. The Congress which allowed Obamascare was a Democratic Party controlled one.

let me correct you here. 97-98% of the people who voted for Romney or Obama slit their throats on 11/6/12. there was 1-2% that voted libertarian or wrote in a vote that wanted something other than big government.

I'll even go a little further and say that the 1-2% could have made the differance on any chance this country had of staying afloat. But since they made a statement we now have about 0% chance of this country ever getting back on track.

Romney was not my favorite choice but he would have been 100% better than this dictator we have now. So guess what? the 1-2% of statement votes will go down just like the rest of us.

But with the vast majority of Congressional incumbents winning reelection, the makeup of Congress as a whole doesn't change much.
