Carried a BUG for the first time today
#1
Seems every time the seasons change I get in the mood to switch up my EDC a bit. Whenever this happens I'll usually carry something different for a week or two, then switch back to my trusty Glock 27 which has been my goto carry for some time now. I've been interested in carrying a BUG and couldn't really wrap my head around how to go about it without starting on another expensive crusade to find the least uncomfortable holster for the job. My club is going to run some modified IDPA rules for one shoot this summer encouraging the use of BUGs so I've really had the itch to figure out a carry configuration. Last time I tried carrying anything IWB i was about 30 pounds heavier than I am now and it just was not comfortable. Today for some reason I was compelled to start moving stuff around on my belt. I ended up with my 23 OWB at 3:00 and my 27 IWB at 9:00ish crossdraw.

I spent the last few hours running errands around town and I have to say I am amazed at how surprisingly comfortable this configuration was, and I didn't even have to buy anything new. I've always read that carrying this way has a tendency to balance things out but I never really thought I had an issue with that. I was wrong, and I definitely noticed that today. Long story short, unless something changes, I think I'll be carrying a BUG from now on.

I keep meaning to pick up an ankle holster for my LCP but other things always pop up. I like carrying something small on my ankle because it's easy to draw from your ankle if you are in a vehicle.

I would like to be able to do something like that. Between the current state of the market and wife imposed budget restrictions I'm trying really hard to avoid bringing home anything new.

The only thing stopping me from going the ankle holster route is the desire to wear shorts when it gets warm out.

Ankle holster LCP for the win. Don't have mine anymore but plan on carrying one again. If shorts become a problem, pocket holster works great too.

The LCP seems to be the defacto standard for a backup. I have to admit pocket carry is very appealing to me. I'm not so thrilled at the idea of getting into another caliber but this may push me to do it. Its hard to give up the interchangeable magazines between the 23 and 27, but obviously the 27 isn't a pocket gun.

I have a P3AT i carry in either my pocked or ankle for my BUG or for deep concealment.

My ankle holster was made buy someone on another forum.

Fits well and has a spare mag pocket and a cuff key pocket too.

LCP/P3AT is a great pocket gun. I would forget it was even there and worked flawlessly at the range after pulling it from the holster directly after carrying it for a few weeks caked full of dust, dirt and moisture from working full time and not being cleaned. The thing just didn't care about heavy abuse, it just works. The only thing I never liked was the mushy long double action trigger pull, this is why I opted for the slightly heavier p238 from sig sauer. I would usually carry the p238 in the pocket and the LCP on the right ankle.
