Carson on the 2A
#1
Copied from tonight's FB post:

Quote:Each night, I try to take some time to answer a few of your questions. Tonight, I have had a few events, so I wanted to take what time I have left to talk to you.

The first question I want to deal with tonight is all the questions on the Second Amendment and our right to bear arms. There are a number of questions on this topic, but tonight I will choose one from Nathan. He is an active duty service member. Nathan, thank you for your service to our great nation.

Nathan, I have spent more time taking bullets out of bodies than most. As a child, I lived in a very bad neighborhood where gun violence was shocking. Both of my older cousins were killed. I saw bodies on the streets with bullet holes. I saw things that children should never see. But Nathan, please know this, I never saw anything that was so horrid that I wanted to take away anyone's right to own a firearm. The Second Amendment is one of our most precious rights. It must never be infringed. We do need to do a better job of keeping guns from the severely mentally disturbed. I am a gun owner myself. I would never limit my rights and certainly not yours. Thanks for asking the question, Nathan. Sorry it took so long to answer.

The second question tonight comes from Chaz who asks about defending against an attack on our electrical grid.

Chaz, I think you just touched on a very significant weakness in our defense. An attack on our grid could cause major outages lasting potentially months. The problem is quite serious. We need to both harden our grid and build in more capacity -- and do so quickly. Our way of life quickly gets turned upside down without power. Not acting is irresponsible.

The final question tonight is about my boys. The question is from Laura and she wants to know what legacy would I like to leave for my boys.

Laura, first of all, I am very proud of them. They did not grow up like I did, and that presented challenges. When you are very poor like I was, things you couldn't afford or even hope to have mean very little. I joined ROTC in high school for the clothes. Yet, I am so blessed to have lived at the lowest rung, experiencing hunger and homelessness, and now to the highest tier in our country. I wanted my boys to appreciate everything they have. They do, and now they appreciate the lessons. Bill Clinton was famous for saying "I feel your pain". Well, I have walked in your shoes no matter what your struggle. I want my boys to know the struggle people like me felt, and understand the very real pain that people face in this country. My boys are my legacy. They are among my greatest blessings.

No one will remember forever that I was only the 9th Black Brain Surgeon. Many have forgotten the struggles of my ancestors. All I want to be remembered for is leaving this great country and our world better than I found it. I want to be known for doing my part, no matter how small. That is legacy enough for me.

Thanks for hanging in there with me tonight. Headed back to New Hampshire and Iowa for the rest of the week.

Good Night!

Ben

Previously Mr. Carson stated that gun control should be a local issue.

So while he might not want to take away your rights, it seems he may have little problem if your state or local government wants to?

I just cannot get behind this guy, these inconsistencies are not helping me to be convinced that he is right for the job.

Seems like Carson and Trump have gone both ways on the 2A. Carson to a lesser extent. So my question is, of the two who do you trust more when it comes to the 2A? I have not decided who I would support so please dont think this a loaded question. Im just looking for opinions.

Honestly, Carson is not used to "politics" so personally speaking, I am giving him a little more "benefit of the doubt" as far as some story "changing"...we all change our stories to some extent, or refine our beliefs on a topic when it really matters....so I think a lot of his opinions are being refined and decided upon.

As far as Trump, he wrote in his memoir that he has no problem exaggerating or telling people what they want to hear in order to get ahead. So therefore I trust him less than I would Carson. I read Carson's biography and in general he seems like a very honest, trustworthy guy.

They are trying to get Carson on his malpractice record, but even that is stellar. He averaged one malpractice for every five years of work, and some years he did 400 operations. So that's like one malpractice for every 1500-2000 pediatric brain surgeries. To me, that's pretty good!!!!

Carson does come to the gun topic from the "other side of the tracks" so he is maybe more hesitant to see guns freely given out in the rough areas. On the other hand, he said he himself owns a gun and believes in our freedoms to carry. So I'm not worried about what he would do to our gun freedoms. I'm more worried about what Obama is gonna get done before he gets booted.

I was gonna type out a response, but this sums up my sentiments pretty well. I believe Carson wants to govern by the constitution, as such he would not go after guns. Trump, I just can't make myself trust. He talks a good game, but I think he is just saying what he thinks will get him elected.

Oh good grief.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to think Bernie Sanders is the one. Actually, just move to Russia or something....why wait?

Carson says Hitler could have been controlled if the public had guns.
