Just that an amazing shooter survived war only to get shot at home. I find the irony extremely sad and disturbing.

Of course if we put the tin foil hats on, I guess it's not really ironic after all.....

I would call it less irony and more tragedy.

If the shooter and/or the neighbor that helped him end up dead before trial--by any method--then remove the tin foil, because the 'crazy' shit is true.

I agree, to call it ironic sounds more like he shot people for a living and then was killed himself by a shot.

Wasn't he a sniper? Or were you being ironic, sober?

So confused...

I think saying his death is ironic alludes to the fact that as a sniper, he killed people for a living, by shooting them, he then was killed by a gun shot, that's what I thought of when I first read RugerGirls assertion of it being ironic. She later explained what she meant, but it's not what first came to my mind when she said it.

I think saying his death is ironic alludes to the fact that as a sniper, he saved soldiers for a living, by shooting bad-guys, he then was killed by a gun shot, that's what I thought of when I first read RugerGirls assertion of it being ironic. She later explained what she meant, but it's not what first came to my mind when she said it.

Fixed it for you.

I know and agree with your fixes, however I was referring to what I thought when I read that it was an ironic way to die. Calling it ironic did not bring good thoughts to my mind is what I'm talking about. It wasn't ironic at all, it was a tragedy that someone who served his fellows well was killed.

If you've read his book, he himself admits he was far from the best shooter in his sniper course. He actually failed miserably the first time. He said his kill count got as high as it was because he did multiple tours in very active areas of Iraq. He simply had more opportunity.

Don't take this as trying to belittle him. Those are all his own assertions from his book.

Oh damn! Sad That guy was pretty cool, I remember seeing him on TV several times. Total badass, yet completely humble. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Maybe I'll buy his book, just so that his family benefits from the proceeds.
