CNN: Give Gun Owners what they want
#1
And a hint: It isn't what we want.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/14/opinion/we...?hpt=hp_c3

Quote:Closing this absurd [Gun Show] loophole would not be political suicide for politicians who fear losing the support of gun owners. A recent survey found that more than 80% of gun owners and 74% of NRA members want this loophole fixed. It seems likely that Giffords and Kelly, both gun owners, would be among this large majority favoring this reform.

Gun owners don't want dangerous people to have guns. So it seems doubtful that most gun owners think gun dealers should continue to be offered the special protections that Congress has bestowed on them, which reduce accountability and make it easier for criminals to get guns. When states require background checks for all handgun sales and have strong regulation and oversight of licensed gun dealers, far fewer guns are diverted to criminals.

Yeah...anyone who tells me that the left is NOT empowered by an Obama win to enact more gun legislation is insane.

Why is it that there is a small group of people on this board that always resort to global ad hominem out of the gate?

It's more fun Smile

Besides, I do believe that Obama winning the election (or any democrat winning a 2nd term) emboldens the left into thinking that the people want ALL of what the left peddles, straight up and down.

And it's the left that--almost universally--wants gun control, and the "Gun Show Loophole" is their rallying cry.

I don't disagree with you on those points.

I just wonder if calling anyone that might disagree with you "insane", without hearing their argument, is a necessary tactic?

I believe that it was Einstein who said "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." In this particular instance I would call that a valid definition.

Fair enough. Smile

Speaking of gun shows, do we keep a list on this forum, or do I have to check the other place?

Well, there is this section but I'm not sure it's up to date.

That section, here and at "the other site", is kept up to date by the members.

Just saying. Wink

I'm a gun owner, and I want a machine gun, are they willing to give it to me?
