So you want to inconvience someone who has done nothing wrong. That is unlawful detention. Sure if the law requires it check their ID and permit but don't say stupid crap about hollow points not being legal and in other ways just showing you're an idiot. Generally the open carry guys as annoying as they are know the law a lot better than the officers responding to them. That has to change.

Here's what TiredTrainer originally stated (the above is what someone said to him in reference to below),
Quote:As the former ex officer of the philadelphia police academy and current trainer for police officers in the commonwealth of Pa I can assure you this officer was trained in the law. By law a permit is required to carry a gun in Philly. In addition many bussinesses and public venues such as the sports stadium complex prohibit all fire arms. I have a different take on this encounter. I think the officer did just fine. He had the right to confirm the existence of a valid permit. He sufficiently inconvienced the baiter who was open carrying so that he would think twice about carrying openly. He let the baiter know how this was viewed by the police. He did not do anything that exposed him to a successful law suit. I know of what I speak in that regard because I am now and expert witness in police practices.
If his "lack" of knowledge about the law was a deliberate tactic it worked perfectly and should have given this baiter pause before attempting this again

It would be kind of funny if people stopped TiredTrainer at every radio call he responded to (when his was uniform) and asked to see his police academy diploma.

I tried to comment on their site and was met with this:

"The P1 member comment section is for use by verified law enforcement professionals only. If you are an officer requiring verification, please contact P1 member support at 1-888-POLICE1 (888-765-4231)"

Since one of the commenters there admitted to being a preacher who hasn't been a LEO in ages--I take it to mean the commenters there are active PO, retired PO and their friends only. I tried to post to that thread but oh well.

They don't seem to need any of us harping on what many of the cops on that thread seem to already know...

Quote: Sorry but this officer needs to go sell flowers. I have made my share of mistakes on the street but this is bad and it only get's worse when the officer realizes he is in the wrong.

And it only took 4 pages, but someone FINALLY quoted PUFA...

Quote: 18 Pa C.S.A. §6108 Carrying firearms on public streets or public property in Philadelphia
No person shall carry a firearm, rifle, or shotgun at any time upon the public streets or upon any public property in a city of the first class unless:
1.) such person is licensed to carry a firearm; or
2.) such person is exempt from licensing under section 6106 of this title (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license).

Son of a bitch, my head hurts reading all them......

I love how someone who is minding their own business and not committing any crime is a POS...

It must be annoying when you stop someone who has the PA C.s. memorized.

That reminds me of the schpeal about hallow points. This cop cannot be that dumb---has he ever been in a gun store to buy anything for target practice? Look at the boxes on the shelves. Ask a clerk at the counter for hallow point .45. You get the box. If hallow point is not legal in PA, do you think it JUST might be possible that every single gun store in the entire state is committing a crime by selling them? If that is, then why are they selling them? Just 'cuz?

I would bet that the pair of cops in the video haven't ever been inside an actual gun store. Their firearms are issued to them as is their ammo, they're probably like a good many other cops, and they're not "gun people".
