I hope the MOD's have considered to add a readable and easy to access disclaimer to this forum. Copyrights of articles is considered to be a very grey area.
Once a snippet of an article is copied into a thread on this forum it is considered to be "fair" use of the original article. A disclaimer on the front page of this forum is not only handy, it also will cover any copyright problems MOD's have overlooked.

Here is a copy of the disclaimer I put on my forum.

Quote:The administrator(s) of this site cannot be held responsible for what its users post, or any other actions of its users. It is your own responsibility to adhere to these terms. To owners of copyright licensed material which could be linked on this site, please E-mail the administrator and we will see to it that it will be deleted as soon as possible. We will not allow slander, profanity, racial slur. Defamatory, libelous, abusive, inaccurate post will be deleted without warning.
Please refrain from hateful, harassing and threatening posts. If such a post appears you must immediately email one of the admins or moderators so actions can be taken.

Posted photographic material (using the sites server) will be permanent. It will not be deleted in any way. If you like to delete pictures then please use and open a free account. Once a file is deleted on photobucket it will not be shown on this web site anymore.

One of our moderators covered that yesterday:

I think he covered it pretty well but if there's more to add I'm sure it will be well received.
There are three types of people in the world:
Those who make things happen,
Those who watch things happen,
And those who wonder what happened.
Quote:7. Copyright laws can be vague and difficult for any online media. In order to help avoid any infringement issues, please be sure to cite your source when ever posting news articles or other content from another internet source. Also, be sure to post a blurb or snippet (no less than 10% of the source article) along with the link. This helps forum threads make more sense in case the original posted links change or disappear. This might not always be enough to satisfy some sources but it is a step in the right direction. Please do not duplicate the entire original article as this may exceed protections extended under 'fair use', even when the original source is cited. If we are ever asked to remove copyrighted material, we will have to comply.
A lot of news sites do not even allow a snippet being copied from their site. Usually a hidden referral link is attached when a snippet is copied onto other websites. Some people delete that link which makes it illegal.
