Get a grip, people.

That, or the fact that everyone these days has to cover their butts due to all the lawsuits flying around.

Could be.

The declaration of "State of Emergency" has more to do with money and paperwork than anything though.

The fourth whereas defines this as other frontal systems.

This reborn hurricane will most likely be a tropical storm nearing its approach to the coastline. There will be considerable rain.
I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?

Well. If they need any at least they will have declared ahead of time. They made the only reasonable choice if you ask me. If I was Governor, I'd also declare an emergency.

I'm baffled by why people have a problem with declaring a SoE for this.. This frees state and local governments from the red tape normally required to do anything, and allows them to get assets into place to deal with the effects of this storm.

You're absolutely right. Failure to respond properly was the exact cause of what we saw in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana whereas other areas hit just as hard had their situations under-control and responded to immediately. Look at Louisiana and then look at Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. The main difference being in the local and state governments' response. The mayor of New Orleans and Governor of Louisiana ignored the impending storm which was accurately forecast the weekend before and didn't even officially suggest an evacuation until the day of and after-that refused Federal assistance for a great length of time. Declaring a state of emergency allows Federal response to be immediate and preemptive as we saw in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi opposed to being a clean-up crew like we saw in New Orleans and the res of Louisiana.

My beef is the when, not that they did. For too many unknowns, they may have spent a fortune on something that could be nothing.

I don't know about you, but, I've got leaves down, in my yard. I'm going to need State assistance to get rid of those things! Rolleyes
My guidance counselor said I wouldn't amount to anything... Lucky guess! Dodgy

That's something I haven't figured out yet. I saw all kinds of people out yesterday and today cleaning up leaves in the grass. High winds are coming let the leaves just blow out of your yard. Wink
