Not sure what to think or feel at this point. Waiting for all the facts.

Very sad, tragic. I do wonder why the kid was dressed the way he was, though. Like you said, we'll wait for all the facts, but I personally wouldn't go outside to "investigate" anything like that. It isn't my job..., I'll observe from safety and report by calling 911.

The man's sister was the neighbor that called him apparently.

That's rough. The details released are that the kid was dressed in black, with a ski mask, and had a knife in hand. Father said that the kid looked like he was about to attack, and subsequently fired.

Normally we'd all say "good for him." Except this time, for some reason, it turned out to be his own kid. That's a friggin' tough break.

Kind of puts a whole new spin on that whole "Know your target" rule.

I know that's cold, but ya know, if his kid wasn't outside apparently behaving like a criminal, the kid would probably be alive right now. If it wasn't his dad shooting him, it probably would have been someone else.

Agreed. It seems like it was a clean shoot. The tragedy is that it was his own kid behaving like a criminal who ended up causing it.

I read that the kid had a pistol. Not a knife.

The articles I read either said a "shiny weapon" or "knife".

Sad the guy killed his own kid. But kids kill their parents enough that we may be hearing about a dead father if dad didn't do it first. Sounds like that to me, anyway.

Dad done saved us from his own bad kid. I don't think it was a mistake, I think it was a matter of self defense and a good shoot. Thanks dad, good shoot..
