...and don't throw an anchor of a running-mate around his neck. A moderate Republican could have skated away with this election. Hell, I think John McCain might have been able to take a re-match, perhaps with Mitt as his running-mate.

Choosing ideologues over electable candidates is a losing strategy.

Too many young women (of which I know one) and too many working-class folks couldn't stomach this GOP ticket, and that sank it.

It didn't matter who the GOP candidate was.

You won't beat the guy that's giving away free stuff by suggesting that the recipients should earn what they get.

We're outnumbered by the takers. This is the new normal.

I find it quite interesting that the one's screaming the loudest in this thread are those who were going Libertarian one way or the other, including several who are supposedly died in the wool Libertarians.

It's not new. It's aways been normal. The difference IMO is the takers have been given the right to vote. It's human nature to take as much as possible with a minimum of effort. Most people live day to day whether it's food, money, or politics. All that matters is what's in front of them right now.

It's like teaching your 5yo to save money and giving him the right to help chose your future...you probably won't be that hard on him.

Agreed. We've given the franchise to those who are least likely to wield it in their own best interest.

To be fair, it's our fault that we haven't raised our "kids" to understand what's in their best interest.

We get the government we deserve.

Agree completely. We are reaping what we have sown. We are all guilty, and we have the government we have earned and deserve.

Add to that the new breed of spolied kids now allowed to vote who were raised that if they don't get exactly what they want when they want it will just tip over the pile of blocks while they go pouting to their rooms.

I'd vote for Romney over any Paul any day, and twice on tuesday.

I don't know why you loony Libertarians think the Pauls are some shining beacons of hope. They're POLITICIANS, and Rand is a SECOND GEN politician.

Is there anything more despicable than a 2nd gen politician?
