Delco Friends of NRA event! October 5, 2017
#1
Yes, you read that right.  After over 25 years some NRA members in Delco are putting on a Friends of NRA dinner and YOU are invited.
Please go investigate the link below.

https://friendsofnra.org/eventtickets/Ev...ntId=54620

Essington, PA (Rt 420 until you hit the Delaware River. Beautiful place. ) Easy on and off to 95.
  • The Friends of NRA is a Fun, Fellowship filled FUNDRAISING event.
  • It is a Fundraising event where the 50% of the money stays local. (The rest is national)
Since I am a story teller, let me share one.

I moved to California and, with the help of others, set up a Women On Target program in Southern California. (Or Kalifornia is you prefer)
The grants I sent to the NRA Foundation for ammo, targets, firearms allowed this program to become one of the big successes in SOCal firearms lure.  We taught well over 1100 women to shoot pistols and rifles at a fair and reasonably low price, BECAUSE of the money allocated to us from the grants.

So I like to remind the NRA members and their friends that this is a FUNDRAISER.  YES we will be looking for your money.  We look to you to support the new incoming shooters, the boy scouts, the girl scouts(YES, the Girl Scouts) 4 H programs and other Legion and VFW kids programs. Women's programs, beginner shooter programs all get help from your involvement.
  • If you own a business and want to buy a add ion the program, contact me.
  • If you want tickets or better explanations on the multiple ticket options, contact me.
  • If you would like to volunteer on the committee, contact me.
  • If you can add the link above to your social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snap, etc.) I'd appreciate the favor.
Feel free to do it here, or PM me here.

Please pass on this message. Delco has been missing out on the Friends of NRA for over 25 years.  Let's get it started again!!

Day and timing might be a problem for some, 5:30 on a work night, folks might not want to go straight from work. Not everyone has $50 to unload either.

Good luck though.

Thank you for the kind comments. We specifically moved it earlier (5:30) as some folks said they couldn't make it on a weeknight UNLESS they got to go to bed earlier.
The cost for a banquet hall on a Saturday, Friday night is 2 times as much. Plus the place is booked out 2 years for Saturdays.

Dinner itself is 35 dollars and is all you can eat buffet, I think I mentioned it was a fund raising event.

For you?  Maybe you could ask your boss, or your company to support and buy a table for the company?
The tables include some prize/gift benefits.
Or maybe you belong to another club or organization that will want to buy a table.

The man I know who is the NRA Coach for Lower Providence traps high school team, just received 2000 rounds of shot shells (7.5) via a grant received from Friend of NRA.  Then they won the State championships.

So 50% of the money raised stays local.

My first year, I bought just a single ticket.  I watched the event from the table, and played on the silent auction items ONLY. As I got to see how the event went, and I joined other events, I saw the value at table buying as a game a chance to win a firearm or other larger value item.

You asked, I answered with a possible reason. I understand you'll never please everyone, but since it appears there is zero interest in it on this forum I gave you something. Hope it works out for you.

I haven't attended one of these in a while.  I used to be a committee member of the Erie Friends of NRA.
I stopped volunteering because a few people had more of their own special interest in mind rather than what it's really for.  When one of our own is struggling to find/afford ammo so the kids on his team can shoot then there is something obviously wrong.  If the program worked the way it was intended I shouldn't have had to donate 1000's of .22 so kids can shoot.  OK, off the soap box.

Anyway, it is a great time if you attend.  Lots of games of chance, rifle raffles, auctions...just be prepared to pony up some of your savings.

And I thanked you for your feedback. I am a full blooded NRA apologist.
I tried to give you respectful answers that were discussed by the 6 people committee.
And I added some feedback of my own personal experience.

I would love to see you there, and I already know you volunteer your ass off.  You and I can share a pitcher of ice tea.

Thanks.  I have only been on the receiving end of things to get the grant paperwork filled out in time.(It was October in California.)
I hope to be a part of the grant committee, another volunteer effort.  I would ALWAYS approve ammo if kids were being trained.

Funny story, or sad story, depending on how you look at it.  Boy Scout troop wanted 10,000 rounds of 22.  They wanted to teach 15 kids to shoot according to the grant request.  Person filling out added their syllabus that showed each kid would get to shoot 30 rounds.  Uh, 30 times 15 is 450.  This was when 22 was hard to get.  He got approved for 1K.  Boy was he mad.
