Dem Senators On Budget Committee Unanimously Oppose Balancing The Federal Budget
During the mark-up of what would be the first Senate budget in four years, Senate Republicans offered two separate amendments to balance the budget in 10 years. Democrat members on Committee voted against both of these amendments. Sessions' amendment would reduce revenues in the Chairman's Mark to the level of revenues in CBO's February baseline and reduce total outlays such that the Democrats' budget would balance in FY 2023. Johnson's amendment would create a new 60-vote point of order against any budget resolution that does not produce a surplus in any year after FY 2022.

What a fucking joke...Absolutely disgusting...When the day of reckoning comes for this nation's national debt and riots break out I ask that the police do the right thing and not protect these Democrat Senators from the angry mobs

"Takers" feel entitled to enjoy the fruits of other's labor.

I have more trust for a lamprey in a koi pond than I do these takers' hands in the national coffers.

Just to play devil's advocate, why do we need a balanced budget amendment? How about they just balance the budget without passing a law that says they have to.

Neither side has any plans to balance the budget, Republicans are just trying to score points with their base and provide political cover for themselves when it comes to cutting SS/Medicare. As soon as some "crisis" hits any balanced budget amendment would go right out the window and we all know it.

Not to mention the majority (far greater than 50%)of republicans in the house voted against a balanced budget amendment the last time it came around. Its funny how we dont hear about that instance but if a dem does it its screamed.. if we want a balanced budget we have to hold our own side accountable as well...
just like the creative accounting in obombacare bill that was sold the libs are trying the same thing when they say in this meeting they are reducing the deficit 1.85 trillion over 10 years when it's only 300 billion.
here sessions gets pissed and schools them
