Democrats to America: We own the government

Political Commentator
In the current fight over the government shutdown, Republicans are simply representing the views of the American people.

Americans didn’t ask for Obamacare, they don’t want it, but now their insurance premiums are going through the roof, their doctors aren’t accepting it, and their employers are moving them into part-time work — or firing them — to avoid the law’s mandates.

Contrary to Obama’s promises, it turns out: You can’t keep your doctor, you can’t keep your insurance — you can’t even keep your job. In other words, it’s a typical government program, but this one wrecks your health care.

Everybody always carried on about how great the Free Love and the Peace movements were, as if it was all just a bunch of hippies and pot heads.

This is the real side of that. The people in power now have been taking marching orders from those campus radicals, whose sole aim is to remake this country into some kind of socialist hell. They, of course, will still enjoy the fruits of everyone else's labor.

Lol....they aren't taking orders from them, they ARE the campus radicals!

Those hippies are all grown up, and in politics.

Wait until it's the GenXers time.

I think we'll also see a giant increase in "celebrities" running for offices. I also think as time goes on, the chances of them winning will become higher since, unfortunately, a lot of our younger society today worships them.

I think some of the more naive hippies of that era have certainly done that, but the hard core radicals are the ones who have pushed the dark part of that agenda the hardest.

Back then, Nam made a lot of us take a hard look at the establishment and question things our parents never did. We lost friends in the draft and we dealt with the spectre of being called up or "dodging it."

Nam was nothing noble in our eyes, just a war to be fought by young men on behalf of the old guys and corporations who had nothing but their own interests in mind. We got to watch the body count on TV every night and even my hardline right wing parents were asking WTF was going on. It gave us a good reason to sincerely distrust the government.

Some of the more committed stoners did grow up and go into politics because they wanted to make a change, but in college, they mostly thought it was cool to protest and get tight with hippie chicks. The real ones to watch were the bomb makers and hard line commies. They set the tone for change and they wanted control so they could MAKE everybody see and do it their way. I truly think they hate the rest of us and would be quite happy to see us all dead and out of the way.

They've done a fairly good job overall. IMO, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, et al are hippie burnouts who managed to get in office and stay there because the rest of the old stoners put them there. The hard core commie change makers are calling the shots, with help from Big Bidness. Politics makes strange bedfellows. Or fellow travelers, if you like Wink

I never considered myself to be much of a Bircher; I'm a middle boomer and those are some of my contemporaries.

Its funny how the baby boomers are running the show in this country and yet all the problems are because of the 20 something year olds. Those damn Gen Y'ers or Millennials, its all their fault with their Katy Perry and their electronic music. Rarrrr.
