Dennis Mccauley for Sheriff

This guy seems to have a web site devoid of real content; when you go to the "Issues" sub-page, it's "not found." All there is is a 2-minute staged interview with a reporter.

No way on the site to get in touch.

I went to the Facebook page and asked point-blank in a message (no way to post) what his position was on staying within the law, and no more, for LTCFs. We'll see if there's an answer.

He's endorsed by the Democrats locally; probably because he's running against a GOP incumbent, but I don't regard party affiliation as relevant for the position. But he didn't bother with the primary.

The one endorsement on his web site is weak--- he organized a memorial for a cop who died in 1949. Not exactly a great achievement, unless you want to be the County Party Planner.

Anybody know any reason whatsoever to bother with this guy?

Duke isn't exactly working for us either. He said in the past that he wouldn't stand up to unconstitutional federal laws on gun control

Here's the response I got from him regarding LTCF issuance:

good question. Elected officials need to follow the law. In this case, the process is clearly defined by statute in PA Title 18, section 6109. As per subsection e1, it's a "shall issue" decision unless the person falls into one of the enumerated denial categories (for example, criminal convictions, mental health confinement, etc.). Hope this helps.

It strikes me as tepid at best. I was looking for something like assurances that he won't add to the hoops that we might have to jump through. All other arguments aside, Bucks has had a very low bullshit ratio compared with a number of other counties LTCF processes. For example you don't have to get a mommy's note from your local PD like you do in Montgomery.

There was a letter that I saw passed out at a CGOBC meeting... this was back when Lingenfelter was running against him in the primary. Unfortunately I do not have a copy right now...

Do they still have those meetings?

If I remember correctly they have changed to CGOPA. I think it went state-wide, not just county anymore. but there are still some meetings.

here we go:

Quote:CGOBC Update

As with most grass root organizations, after reflecting on the diverse approaches to accomplish our objectives, CGOBC has decided to reorganize. CGOBC has evolved into two separate organizations and we encourage all people involved with the former CGOBC to engage both of the new organizations. They are:

Pennsylvanians for Self Protection – a non-partisan 501©(4) organization that focuses on outreach both to gun owners and non-gun owners as an informative and educational organization. PA4SP is equally focused on educating and working with legislators not only to prevent new gun control legislation, but also to advance gun owner rights and reduce criminal firearm activity. The PA4SP scope is expanding statewide. Visit them here: http://www.PA4SP.ORG
A group named “Concerned Gun Owners of Pennsylvania” that focuses on field action countering anti-2A forces. Visit them here: http://www.CGOPA.ORG

My take on the election is that I'm not going to vote against a guy who has all in all treated us well, and much better than a lot of sheriffs in the state. Especially in favor of someone who, judging by his campaign web site, lacks organizational skills.
