Detroit police's simulated purse snatching goes awry

Quote:"The event takes place. The officer takes the purse, runs around the gas station. As he's running, an off-duty FBI agent is pumping gas. He witnesses the whole thing. He gives chase. He pulls his weapon, and as he turns the corner around the gas station, he's stopped by another officer, who identifies herself as a police officer and don't shoot, don't shoot, this is a scenario," said Inspector Shawn Gargalino with the Detroit Police Department.

~snip~

"You had citizens who could've been hurt. A lot of people out here have CPLs now and carry weapons. They're tired of the crime that's going on in Detroit, and they might want to stand up and help somebody that's in this type of situation. It just so happened it's a gas station where the FBI fills up all their vehicles," Gargalino said.

Imagine the press that would be out there if it would have been a CPL holder that did draw, fire and kill the cop in this case.

Are you kidding me? That's like practicing the pit maneuver on an open highway during rush hour.

Can't they practice this in an open field or something? I mean, really...they have paint ball places they could rent for this....

Ahh It is NY. Morons..

That being said I would have thought it was a step father or someone and the kid was yelling "You're not my dad." because it was a step father..

Also if I thought it was a real abduction and I was armed or not armed, you don't want me acting on that. I'd commit to death, I'm not saying I'd be effective , I'm might very well end up dead, but I'm grabbing anything and everything and looking to end it permanently. If I'm close you wouldn't have time to put your hands up before I'm boxing an ear drum and trying to pop your eye balls like grapes. The good news is they didn't actually make it believable enough for someone to think force was needed.
