Probably true but do they think we'll come in their store for anything?
Not I

Exactly one of the points I stressed.

We shall see what happens. Below is the email:

Quote:Dear Madam or Sir:

I stopped in your State College, PA store tonight at about 8:45 PM to speak with the store Manager about your "new" corporate decision on firearms

Statement from DICK’S Sporting Goods
We are extremely saddened by the unspeakable tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and to the entire community.
Out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chainwide.
We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible tragedy.

following the horrific school shooting in CT. The Manager was "not available" so I spoke with a couple associates/department heads. I wanted to (face to face) explain to the Manager so he/she could relay my disappointment with your decision up the chain of command. One of the people I spoke with said he would send off an email but suggested that I email as well.

I have purchased many items in your stores over the years but that patronage has come to an end. I will no longer give you my hard earned dollars BECAUSE of your decision listed above in your press release. I realize that "MSR (Modern Sporting Rifles as you call them) gun sales" are a minuscule percentage of your overall sales BUT there are those of us who happen to buy both firearm related gear, camping gear and clothing/shoes in your stores. You may not care about those of us who frequent your firearms section BUT you will lose the business from those of us who shop in multiple departments in your stores as well.

I was told that I was the second customer today who took the time to come in IN PERSON to express my disappointment with your decision. IMAGINE how many MORE people are only expressing this feeling among their friends and family, on social media or on organizations such as PA2A.org, PAFOA.org and other similar sites.

I understand you made this decision based on how you feel your customer base and the MEDIA was reacting to the horrific news of the day. You have every right to carry what ever merchandise you see fit to sell. I back your right as a business to make the decisions you feel are the best for your bottom line.

I just wanted to let you know that I will be one of MANY individuals exercising my right to spend my money where I am valued as a customer.

Good luck with your decision. But be warned however that every action has a resulting reaction. At least one other MAJOR national company made a similar decision as yours and has IMMEDIATELY changed their minds because of the back lash from every day citizens like myself.

Respectfully:

After hitting "0" for live person...they said they were back logged w/ email and mine had not been read.

She could forward it to their mgt team.

I said I wanted a reply via email and she stated that their new policy stands.

Then she gave me the line about the unspeakable tragedy that all Americans are praying for.

I said thanks for the "Non-Answer" and she said your're welcome. I suspect my original email will find the delete file post haste.

Quote:DICK’S SPORTING GOODS REFUSING TO HONOR MILITARY-STYLE RIFLE ORDERS [i]PLACED BEFORE CT SHOOTING

Russell Kellner of Flower Mound, Texas, ordered three Troy Defense Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifles from Dick’s Sporting Goods on Black Friday, CBS 11 News reports.

At $799 apiece, a savings of $300 dollars, it “was a heck of a deal,” he said.

However, Kellner and his wife received only two of the three guns. They received a letter from Dick’s on Christmas Eve stating that the company would not fulfill the remainder of their order.

Dick’s announced a week before Christmas that it was suspending sales of “modern sporting rifles” in all stores, “out of respect for the victims of the Connecticut massacre,” CBS News 11 notes........

And Kellner isn’t alone.

Troy Blackall says he paid for two of the Troy Carbines at Dick’s — but the store only sent him one.

“It’s unacceptable,” says Blackall.

Dick’s has announced they will be issuing full refunds. The sporting goods store even sent $100 gift cards to customers with unfulfilled orders........

“The guns have doubled and tripled in price now. So it’s not like we can get our money back and buy the guns someplace else,” he said.

And the chain’s decision to discontinue rifle sales has upset more than just customers.

The manufacturer of the guns, Troy industries says on its Facebook page that it’s deeply dismayed and shocked that Dick’s stopped selling its rifle.” CBS News 11 reports. “Troy’s CEO says the company invested millions of dollars into its operations after selecting Dick’s as the sole distributor of this particular rifle.”

Ooooo, do I smell a lawsuit???^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Just supply the rifles to other vendors, the heck with Dicks. They won't have a problem selling their firearms. Dicks also owns Golf Galaxy, I will not spend another dime at any business that is affiliated with Dicks.
