Differences between Glock Gen3 and Gen4? Help me out!
#1
When I bought my first Glock (Gen 3 G23) the Gen 4's were not out yet. When the Gen 4's first came out I remember hearing about some reliability issues but those issues seem to have been worked out.

So, besides the adjustable back strap and the grip texture what are the differences? Improvements? Differences?

I plan to pick up a few in the not so distant future so your opinions, as always, are appreciated.

I sent my Gen. 2 G19 back to Glock last week for warranty upgrades. They found a crack in the polymer frame and had to replace it.

They could not fit the Gen 2 slide to the Gen. 4 frame so it had to have a Gen. 3 frame.

Not sure why.

I have a Gen 2 G17. How would I go about finding out if there are any warranty upgrades available/necessary and did they charge you anything?

You can check here or you can simply call Glock, give them the S/N and they'll tell you.

Gen 4 Glocks have a dual recoil spring, different textured grip, replaceable back straps, ambi mag release (you can choose if you want the mag release button on the left or right side), and I believe that is it.

Any benefit to the dual recoil spring? Allow for faster shoots?

Thank you for that info.

They've tweaked the Gen 4 ejectors a bit. For what its worth my Gen 4 purchased in April has been solid and reliable.

They say the double spring helps soften the recoil a bit. Cant say I notice.

I've only shot the Gen 4 Glock 17 and it was like shooting a .22lr. I think it makes a difference, but you will notice it more for larger calibers.

Differences are. Ambidextrous slide release, Bigger slide release, dual recoil spring(must say helps a good bit)(and can't use RS from gen3s), RTF frame, And SOME have a Key Lock for the TRIGGER. Mine does not. If any of you have a gen 4. Look through your paper work that came with it and you will find what I am talking about.

P.S I think the Gen3's also where ambidextrous.
