Do I need a Colt 1911??
#1
I have 3 Ruger SR1911s (2 full size, 1 CMD size, 1 of the full sized is set up for suppressor demos), an RIA Gov't Model (highly modified), a Taurus PT1911, a SIG Scorpion, a Para Expert Carry (3"bbl, full sizegrip), a Ruger SR45 and a Ruger P90.

Do I really need a Colt?

If I were to get a Colt, if not a Gold Cup, it would probably be a 70 series that I would look for.

Thoughts?

I don't know if you need a Colt, but that suppressed 1911 that I shot of yours was just freakin' way cool.

I see where you are coming from! I have a PT1911 and an SR1911 and both are really nice guns! But I do have a special fondness for Colts! I would love to have a WWII era Colt (or earlier) but I do like the Gold Cups as well. It really is a matter of name brand recognition...I'm sure the 1911 variants are as good if not better than a Colt but its just that damn name tag!!

I do have a Colt Delta Elite 10mm so it kind of like having a Colt 1911 on steroids! LOL! But the 1911 purist in me says "1911's gotta be .45 cal!" So yeah...I see what you are saying!

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

if you think the 10mm is great try a 1911 in 400 corbon. 45 case necked down to a 40....nasty hard hitting round.
as for the op, yes you do, as many as you can get. i have a few of them and would rather get syphilis then own anything but a 1911. Colts do hold their value

Yeah, of course you need a Colt. I'm not really a fan boy and like you owned/own 1911's from various manufacturers. I bought a gold cup about a year ago, just because I wanted at least one with the pony on the side. I really love it, no regrets. Is it better or worse than others I own or have shot, probably not, but it's a damn nice gun.

I have one (gov issue) and I have to say it's one of the most purpose-built machines I own. Everything is original and it fits my hand like it was made for it. It's my favorite sidearm.

.45 cal doesn't hurt the cause, either.

Yes, you need a Colt.

Colt sells enough product to the government, so in essence you have already paid for a Colt somewhere along the line.

I'd go with an STI...

But I'm partial to them:

I love my SR1911, but looked at buying a Colt, because I wanted a military icon, as well as, a shooter. So, I bought the SR1911 and then went out and bought an M-1 Garand! Big Grin
