Do you have a machine gun?
#1
If not, why not? Is the $200 tax stamp holding you back? Is it the cost of registered pre-'86 machine guns?

Now consider what would be the case now if new high capacity magazines had been banned in 1986 too. Wouldn't there be a lot fewer of them at affordable prices? Wouldn't you have fewer of them?

Isn't that what the gun control crowd is thinking ought to be done now?

If criminals want high capacity magazines, then they will get high capacity magazines. Just as drugs are illegal in this country, criminals will sneak them in from other countries and ILLEGALLY own them. All the mag ban does is drive up prices for law-abiding citizens and make the ANTIs feel good (see Gun Free Zones..... like middle schools).

It just hasn't worked its way up to the top of my list yet. I love em, want several, but can't identify any practical need to have one, whereas there are still several firearms I don't yet have that I feel a practical need for.

You all know that I'm pro gun. But I seriously want to know why its necessary to own machine guns?

I can almost understand people wanting them banned. I mean...truly, in this country, they are not used for any purpose but to mow people down en-masse.

A ban on them wouldn't bother me, except that its just one more step towards banning regular guns.....

Most people yammering about gun control right now don't even know what the items covered under the AWB were and are too fucking lazy to even consult Wikipedia.

What I do know is that a new AWB is probably coming so I'm gonna be ordering me up something before it passes and something that fires handgun calibers so that way the ammo won't vanish either.

I'm thinking .45ACP Thoreon.

Considering it doesn't take much on some semi autos to get bump fire going so it simulates full auto, it's almost a moot point.

Doesn't matter though. This whole exercise I think is to try to push an AWB. Obama has zero leverage to do it other than dropping the insistence on tax hikes on the rich. Compromise is an evil word right now so, so I can't wait to watch CSPAN when the House votes on AWB renewal.

Rugergirl please tell me one incident since the GCA of the mid 30s where a machine gun was used to "mow people down en-masse." As far as I am aware there are few if any such incidents where they were used against the public. I am sure there are some cases where gangbangers got their hands on one and used it against their own filth.

As for the reasoning, Why not. If you can afford to purchase one can jump through the governments hoops you should be allowed to own one. I am sure they are a blast to shoot and for that reason alone I would love to own one.

You ever use a 1919 to send thirty pounds of lead down range? It is fun, damn fun.

Class 3 dealer near me has shoots on Saturdays in the summer. You just buy the ammo.

I did some research and you're right...there were some cases I had mistakenly thought used full auto, but they did not.

I did notice that the authorities used fully auto in the Waco siege. But I guess that doesn't count, since they were "authorities".

The media truly does make it sound like people get mown down by them though. I guess I just assumed some of these mass shootings were done by automatic weapons. Hm. (To make an excuse, though I've always been pro-2a, I never paid much attention to specific weapons until this past year when I got my LTCF.)
